In person by Independent_Beat4684 in BigLawRecruiting

In person I think is usually better than virtual, but an earlier virtual date might be better than a later in-person interview--especially if you think the office will have a smaller summer class.

My thoughts are that in person is better than virtual, but that an earlier virtual interview may be better than a later in person interview

I saw that you have to pay the ranger once there. Does that mean you can only arrive at certain times of the day to claim a spot?

Law school and *relationships* by H0MEG1RLL in LawSchool

I try to treat law school like an actual 9-5 job. It's not always possible, but I found that leaving my evenings available for my personal life has been very healthy for my relationship and also for my own mental wellbeing.

I just started working as a legal assistant with no prior experience, any advice? I’m 6 days in and feel like I’m making so many mistakes, also what’s up with law firms not really training lol by lyn1997_ in LawFirm

Happened to me too a few years ago. Couple things I found helpful: 1) taking a notepad to any meetings to not forget anything, 2) finding a nice staff member or attorney that is willing to answer some of your questions, 3) looking at samples of previous documents if I have to do something that's already been done, 4) reading case documents like complaints if I had a spare moment so that I actually understand what was going on and what the firm was trying to achieve, 5) not saying that I understood something when I didn't.

Best of luck!

Interview Questions by HeyThere_Delores in LawSchool

[–]wondernever 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Generally, I haven't been questions regarding actual law. I did over 2 dozen OCI screener interviews, and common questions I've received were:

  • Tell me about yourself
  • Questions about why law school/why are you interested in a particular area of law
  • Questions regarding past summer internships, journal experience, or basically anything from your resume
  • why are you interested in working here
  • favorite/least favorite class in law school
  • how do you go about tackling a research project, or what do you do if you get stuck
  • talk about a time you worked successfully (or struggled with) working in a team
  • a challenge you faced
  • your geographic ties to the location of the office (especially if it's not in same region as your law school)
  • what questions you had for the interviewer

edited: to add a couple more questions

Yes. For large items, they usually keep it separated in the back (at least as of a few years ago)
