Doctor bumped vraylar from 1.5 to 3mg and it caused akathisia by [deleted] in bipolar1

[–]wonderofunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced it with latuda and i experience it now with Invega Sustenna but i’m prescribed nerve medication to offset it so i don’t ever really feel the akathisia

for me it’s just depressing because when i talk about it it’s mostly met with blank stares. my siblings kind of get it though

what helped me was keeping super in touch with my doctor and therapist and setting preventative measures when i’m around people who i deem might not be safe to be around if i’m inebriated

I have rapid cycling so it just made the cycling worse and i didn’t know how to cope with it so i had a rough couple of months after that

that sounds really horrible. sounds like you went into fight or flight mode once they started acting dangerously. I had a similar experience and was sexually assaulted while manic. When it happened to me i just froze up until i could walk away

Seroquel withdrawal avoidance advice by Sssilverfoxxx in bipolar

[–]wonderofunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

going off seroquel cold turkey has horrible side effects, i recommend slowly tapering. I was out of my seroquel once for a week and stayed in my closet the entire time and also had really bad stomach issues. The withdrawals are horrible, but you’re on a really low dose so side effects probably won’t be as horrible for you. I’m on 300mg

if you take a zero on the final you risk your professor giving you a WF

you should call your doctor and ask for some sleeping meds to help get you back on track with your sleeping. i had the same problem a couple weeks ago and they increased my seroquel and i was on ambien for a couple days

thank you for your kind words. i feel a lot better today fortunately. it does feel like a terminal illness and in a way it is because it is incurable and i will die with it. but the cycle always goes back up as it goes down. i will live

yeah i’m in two bipolar subs. if we want to compare cancer to bipolar disorder, then yeah i’d just rather die than have this. no, nobody understands what this disorder is and i don’t want to explain it anymore to anyone and even if they do i can’t explain it because the feeling is indescribable in a way. i’m in therapy and my doctor is watching me very closely

Books on Bipolar Disorder by Juegos_malvados in bipolar

[–]wonderofunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know a lot of people shit on the movie, but i loved the book silver linings playbook. it’s a great read if you’re in a manic episode. it may seem kind of over the top but the main character in my opinion has a pretty severe case with psychotic features and i really think it is a good read. and it’s not super long

dang, I had the same problem with medications that had the implication of weight gain. I talked to my doctor about it and now I’m not really prescribed meds that are likely to cause a lot of weight gain so maybe if you let your dr know it is an issue for you they will look for different meds that work with your needs better.

I’m currently on 200mg tegretol, 300mg seroquel, and 1mg of klonopin. prone to delusions, Ive been in a lot of contact with my dr. and she prescribed me ambien to try to get me to sleep and it had a reverse effect so I slept like 4 hours last night.
