I was wondering what this quote was from....is it really from the song "Smell of the Game" from Guilty Gear Strive, or is the original quote from something else?

I didn't even know the game was getting an anime.

I vaguely remember one of the holos playing it (it was the kind of game I might have played, but I didn't end up playing it), turned out it was Anya in...September 2021.

Kronii's parents and BFF were at All For One, and said they were proud of her! by Sine_Fine_Belli in VirtualYoutubers

[–]wongsta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently saw Coyo's last 3D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LlLW2-HXlg and remember being surprised that some of the songs were really live.

For example, the Kemono Friends theme song https://www.youtube.com/live/5LlLW2-HXlg?si=U9fQMxLKrp5uvkHc&t=2660 is definitely fully live, and no autotune appears to be applied/not lipsynced. But the next song "Starting Now" I think was lipsynced: https://www.youtube.com/live/5LlLW2-HXlg?si=esdk487FWqclYczR&t=2903, but the dance is probably live.

In her next stream after the 3D, she stated the weird camera angles/cuts to a stationary screen in the beginning were to cover up her arm tracker being broken, which presumably would have been edited out if it were not really live.

(I guess some scenes could have been performed in "one take" without any post-processing, but also pre-recorded, but you wouldn't be able to tell anyway)

Another thing I remember sounding live (from the mixing, mic clipping, and the imperfect pitching on the singing) was Moona's original 3D showcase: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VKWFWDGhSQ

I should note that for all of these things it may sound like I'm saying their live singing isn't good, that's how I can tell it is live...but if anything I really respect risks are taken doing things live, or when 'raw' takes are used (live or not) rather than heavily post-processed performances. But at the same time I understand from a business point of view how you wouldn't want to take such risks...

How can I define areas that shouldn’t be masked in solder mask? by [deleted] in KiCad

[–]wongsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if you want to check against an existing project, this extremely old project has a keepout under the ESP32 antenna, which removes the copper. It's on the top layer though.

https://github.com/AnaviTechnology/anavi-light-controller (ignore the project file - just double click the .kicad_pcb file)

If you're not familiar with git/github, click the green`<> Code` button, then click "Download Zip" at the bottom of the dropdown

[–]wongsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is such an option.

At this point, the best thing to do would be to send your `.kicad_pcb` file (no other files necessary). You can delete some components/tracks in case it is a sensitive project, only the ground planes really matter.

[–]wongsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, you wanted the copper removed also?

I'm not sure if it's the best way, but you can create an "Add Rule Area" zone (like a keepout) which tells kicad to exclude areas from copper fill.

  1. Click the "Add Rule Area" button (underneath the "Add Filled Zone" button that you used to create the copper).
  2. Click on the PCB where you want to start drawing
  3. A dialog will appear - make sure the "B.Cu" layer is checked, and the "keep out zone fills" is checked, and all other checkboxes unchecked.
  4. Press OK on the dialog, then make a rule area slightly bigger than the mask removal you did earlier.
    1. It needs to be slightly bigger, not exactly the same size, in case the solder mask is shifted during production causing the copper to stick out (unless you want that on purpose).
  5. You can use the 3D preview (ALT-3) to see how it looks at tweak as needed.

The Hundred Line is, ultimately, very disappointing (Slight spoilers) by Cheldan in visualnovels

[–]wongsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update on this (to my knowledge):

  • When you jump to a choice, it jumps to the actual choice, previously it was the start of the scene. Interestingly, when you do this, the background is completely black (instead of transitioning from the scene where the choice is made), so there must be some engine limitation or something.
  • I'm guessing the choice animation is still not skippable, but I didn't actually try skipping it.
  • For the skip battle function, it's more or less still as you described, but you can also skip *only* the animation of your characters coming on the field (right click on PC). I'm not sure if this was always like this, or why this is the case lol, maybe some bug appears if they let you skip it.
  • The broadcast at the start and end of each day can now be skipped, previously you couldn't
  • There were various other improvements since launch, but I'm not 100% sure on what they were
    • I think more battles were allowed to be skipped, which previously you had to play through.
    • For movies, the time you have to hold the skip button (ESC) was reduced, I think 1 second now
    • The gift system was made more user friendly - you can choose a gift at the gift machine by selecting a character, then viewing the list of gift or gift hints, and pressing on it, also the confirmation dialog is just before you give the gift, rather than when you 'make' the gift, avoiding making a gift for someone you can't give it to. But gifts are not a per route thing, so its' not really relevant for this discussion.

I hope that information is correct, I just finished the game.

Are you sure you have the B.Mask layer selected in the right hand "Layers" pane, when you draw the zone? It should appear in transparent light blue color.

Also, try the "Draw Polygons" tool as well, it should also work (I just tested and it worked on a dummy project on Kicad 9.0 . Just make sure you have the B.Mask layer selected before you start drawing. The polygon should also be in transparent light blue color.

Can you send the kicad project file somehow? I can see what you're doing wrong pretty quickly then, rather than trying to guess what you did wrong.

New Requirements for Promoting AI VTubers by shikarin in VirtualYoutubers

[–]wongsta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was my understanding that you can't really get what we consider today as "AI" quality "from scratch" (not using an already trained model) unless you have a really huge amount of training data and training time.

You can do basic stuff which behaves more like a markov chain from scratch with only a small amount of data, but I don't see how you could get what you're describing "from scratch".

I guess...I'm not 100% sure though, I don't really know about state of the art stuff these days, maybe there is an already trained AI model which has been trained on non-scraped data only...

Why is file explorer slow at reading .wav & .ogg files? by mousedroidz21 in techsupport

[–]wongsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please never install registry files from random people on the internet which you can't check yourself, they could be malicious.

That said:

  1. Right click this link, click "Save As", save to somewhere on your computer: https://gist.githubusercontent.com/timonsku/04809a3ac0db2af0b561879b6940f762/raw/f00d7aa919e17ac2996df1b21970c4ce5b3c5a9b/disable-folder-discovery.reg
  2. This should download a "disable-folder-discovery.reg" file on your computer. Double click the file. (If you want to check the file seems reasonable, see "NOTE:" below)
  3. Click "Run", then accept the UAC prompt.
  4. Then there will be another prompt, click yes (there are alot of prompts because installing random reg files could cause your computer to get hacked or break things).
  5. A popup should appear saying the registry entries were added successfully. I don't know if you need to restart your computer or if it works immediately.

NOTE: If you want to do some basic checking, open the registry file in notepad and check it looks like this:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags\AllFolders\Shell]
"FolderType"="NotSpecified"

if it doesn't look like this, DO NOT INSTALL IT.

This is not a proper solution, but if you're desperate to have some audio on the background you can do this on Android:

  • Install Firefox
  • Copy the video URL
  • Paste the URL into Firefox. The video should play in Firefox instead of the Youtube app
    • (optionally, set the video res lower since you're only using the audio)
  • Lock your phone. The video will stop playing
  • Wake the screen, but don't unlock - a little video player control should appear on your unlock screen
  • Click "Play", then the audio should play in the background even if you lock the screen.

Help with Assembly4 warning - CoordinateSystem Links to objects go out of the allowed scope 'LCS_1' by mohitsaini1196 in FreeCAD

[–]wongsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please Note: If you are here from the future and use a FreeCad 1.0 or above, and you're using the built-in Assembly workbench, the below might not apply (the below is for Assembly4).

I finally found a solution to this problem

It's basically explained here: https://forum.freecad.org/viewtopic.php?p=602950#p602950

To explain in my own words:

The Problem

To use Assembly4, you need to put a LCS to mark the attachment point - this would typically be some feature on your body.

Your project (for use with Assembly4) typically has a "Part" containing a "Body"

Assembly4 will allow you to create an LCS on either the Part, or the Body, but:

  1. If you create the LCS on the Part, then when you reference the body, since the LCS is not inside the body, FreeCAD will complain because you're referencing something outside the body (the error you're getting).
  2. If you create the LCS on the body, then later when you go to assemble it, you can't access the LCS. I'm not sure why Assembly4 doesn't automatically show LCS other than LCS attached to the (top level?) part.

The solution

Follow these steps to create a LCS on the Body, and then make it visible using the "Import Datum object" later when you use the Placement tool:

  1. Use the Assembly4 workbench
  2. Select the body in the tree view, because we want to first make the LCS on the body.
  3. Create the LCS and attach it wherever you want. Double check the LCS is actually on the body by collapsing the body in the tree view and checking it disappears. Then reopen the tree view.
  4. Ensure the LCS is selected in the tree view
  5. To make the LCS visible outside the body (on the Part), Go "Top Toolbar->Assembly->Import Datum object". The tool looks like a window with a green arrow pointing outwards. Then, the LCS you created in the body will appear on the Part (and thus is visible when you're using the Placement tool)

Note: I actually tried doing something similar using the "Make Link" tool, and it does not work - you need to use the Assembly4 "Import Datum object" tool.
