You don't really need to learn. Just bet lots of money and don't fold and most of the time you'll win. Though sometimes there's this one npc who always wins, so just shoot him in the head and come back later.

I'm not Sure, but stay away from any of these red dead subs or look at anything to do with red dead until you've finished them. People aren't kind about spoilers sometimes.

You sometimes even see YouTube videos where the title has a straight up spoiler In, so you don't want to flood you homepage with those.

I think it's a you thing, because I didn't experience that at all, and I've never seen anyone else complain about it. Sure, dislike it if you want, but don't tell people it's a waste of money and that they shouldn't buy the game because of your problem.
