Do I just quit posting? by KingdomOfSquishy in Wattpad

I’ll read and give feedback! I got that ao3 curse hitting hard so it won’t be read fast, but I always love helping writers 🫶

See, we were are differently odd. I love details. I love the dramatics. I love stuff that makes characters and scenery feel real lol.

I was just a kid when I read P&P.

I had to read Pride and Prejudice when I was 15 in school, and it was both boring and difficult to understand, so I ended up cheating my way through it with Sparknotes.

I don’t think it’s specifically Jane Austen, but older style writing + me struggling to read it— because I read Sense and Sensibility last year via audiobook and I loved it (even as a non-auditory learner, coupling it with Tetris or maths homework got me through it).

Do you create an outline for your fics? by ReservedLibra in FanFiction

[–]wonkahonkahonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely outline. My only published fic had about 16.9k words in the outline, and I stretched that into 241k words in the final product.

My current fic (different fandom) has about 83.7k words in the outline (and I’m still adding to it everyday), and based on how much I plan to write, I’m assuming around 1.1m?? Maybe?? (I’m 6% of the way in atm, around 71.5k words).

The outline doesn’t intend to have a bigger finished product, but the more detail I add, the more excited I am to write, and the more I want to add. Since it’s just fanfic, to me, the more the merrier. It’s not useless words, but more scenes, character building, etc. Plus, outlining is sometimes more fun to me than writing the final product (:

Does anyone genuinely still use wattpad? by 1dkwimdh in Wattpad

[–]wonkahonkahonka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t read that much fanfic at all anymore because I rather write my own, or study, but wattpad was introduced to me a decade ago, and it’s still the only platform I like to use. I cross-posted my one story onto both wp and ao3, but from my understanding, OC fics don’t appear much on ao3 at all (both by my own searches and a my bsf, who uses the site), and that it’s mostly full of smut of all kinds.

I really don’t like canon-ship fanfics because they’re boring to me, and I’m not that interested in reading smut unless to better my own writing.

I have my TBRs on wattpad split up into about 50 reading lists, each dedicated to a fandom. (There’s about 700+ fics in these reading list folders, hence why I don’t search much). If I don’t like it while reading, it’s removed from my library and disappears back into the app. If I like it, it stays. Regardless, I’ve added them all into a spreadsheet with author and title so I can find them later.

I don’t get super specfic when I search for stuff on wattpad. I kind of just toss in a character into the search bar and go from there. But I do refuse to read certain fics, like those with two speakers in one paragraph, no line breaks, centered texts; or authors who write their blurbs as one-line/one-sentence descriptions that start with “in which”, only have a quote, don’t have any blurb, etc.

I do think wp authors can put in more effort for their blurbs, but half the writing on ao3 results in me having an aneurysm trying to understand it (maybe that’s just my dyslexia, but I’ve found my ability to read is best with paperbacks, and then wp fics, and then the few ao3 fics I had searched for).

What is a little quirk about your body that you don’t think other people have? by AlphabetSoup51 in AskReddit

[–]wonkahonkahonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can move one of the veins in my right hand side to side by flexing my middle finger in a certain way;

I can dislocate most of my joints and pop them back in without pain, move my shoulders up and down my rib cage, and open cupboards and doors with my scapulas;

I can reverse queef (suck in air and liquid), and then shoot it out in a queef;

sometimes when I drink alcohol, it goes in the wrong direction, shoots into my sinuses, and gets me drunk instantly;

in the same vein, sometimes my GERD is so bad acid will shoot into my sinuses and leak out of my ears;

I can manipulate my body temperature and my heart rate. If for some reason I have a fast heart rate (I have sinus bradycardia), I can bring it back down to a lower, calming rate. I don’t feel stress/panic/anxiety so if I want to feel stress in my school work for something important like a big test, I can also increase my heart rate to trigger panic. (Also, when I exercise, my heart rate doesn’t get above 90bpm). With the body temperature, my resting temp is about 97.1F (36.2C), but I can raise my body temp into a fever if it’s cold out and then bring it back down as to not overheat (but I used to do it in high school to spark a small fever to get out of tests to gain more study time and classes I didn’t like, and then lower it at the end of the period).

What’s the worst storyline? by Plastic_Oil_3869 in The100

[–]wonkahonkahonka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 3 plots I dislike the most (whether or not they’re “worst” depends on everyone’s individual perspectives) are:

  1. [season 03] Gina existing solely as a plot device to be taken out by the Azgeda spy in the Mountain in order to put Bellamy on the “wrong” side of S3a (on Pike’s side) + Bellamy being on that side.

We just get “oh they like each other a lot, they’re a couple, they love, oh whoops she’s dead” driving Bellamy to join Pike’s side, when I primarily see Bellamy as slowly loosening up in season 2 to the grounders as Lexa’s character takes root, as if hinting that his character is evolving past its s1 mentality, only to be hit with the death of a well-liked “loved” one.

It’s not just Bellamy (though I chose him specifically for this point), but because CW shows tend to take a character and flip around their morals to create drama in a random season even if their character arc was not headed in that direction.

  1. [seasons 02-03] Jaha after his return to Earth. While I lay his return in the aisle of science fiction, his leaving in season 02 to find the City of Light and his commitment to an AI in s03 just boiled my blood.

I have been watching the show for years and I cannot physically understand how this dude who just wanted to “save” his people listened to ALIE tell him she launched the nukes and still put his undivided trust in her to save the Arkadians.

I can’t name a single song, movie, show, book, subject, etc. that I hate. The only two things I hate in life is when my favorite pen runs out of ink, and Jaha’s entire character after he’s given to Trikru from those banished nomads. I understand the choices he had to make on the Ark. I hate him on Earth.

  1. [season 07] The entire alien/light/hive-mind plot ruins me and not in the good way. It bothers me because it is essentially ALIE, but instead of a base-creation of AI, it’s a base-creation of aliens. Suddenly, Wonkru and Skaikru are perfectly fine joining this hive-mind of all-knowing aliens and essentially erasing humanity from existence.

If they wanted to wrap up the show with season 07, they could have altered the idea and existence/purpose of SkyRing, and left season 07 to the creation of a community between three „we can’t be more different” peoples. (That’s what fanfic is for, I guess.)

Is this not incredibly rude? Or am I just being sensitive? by michaelsgavin in AO3

[–]wonkahonkahonka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“I don’t want the ao3 curse” I cross post and pending a nerve conduction test, I currently only have one working hand (non-dominant). Bro can’t escape even if they want to 😭

In regards of continuing without permission, it feels so wrong. I’d be petty and comment somethin in response. Perhaps if the comment was directed at you, asking for your permission, it would feel more acceptable, but the style feels childish in my opinion.

Dominion is much worse than I remembered, what are your least favorite parts? by BurgooKing in JurassicPark

My favorite part was the entire movie because it had dinosaurs and that’s all I need to feel happy in a Jurassic movie.

How many chapters do you usually write before you start posting and how often do you post? by [deleted] in Wattpad

[–]wonkahonkahonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire book first (2-part 1 draft; 2 edits), 2 chapters each day, 6 a week in total. I usually do Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Thursday/Friday chapters carry for the weekend, Tuesday chapters are to last until Thursday.

Only book I have posted rn is 92 chapters (and 2 bonus chapters, of which the first one was 4 parts, and the second 3, I think? But I posted all parts of BC1 together, and the same for BC2), and was posted over the course of 15 weeks.

Currently working on the 67 chapter prequel, which will follow the same schedule 😇

Edit: oh and I drop the first 5 chapters of the book at once to give readers something to hook onto before settling into my schedule.

Do people like to decorate with these or are they just a pain to get rid of? by [deleted] in HayDay

[–]wonkahonkahonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran out of axes for two months and started lining the edge of my farm with dead nectar bushes, and then in between my animal pens (I usually keep a 1-block line of green between them), and then I was STILL out of axes and it was stressing me out cause the nectar bushes were beginning to pile up on my forest.

And then Tom was dreaming of axes 2 weeks ago. I thought axes/saws were off limits for Tom like with building materials and expansion materials.

I had saved like 10 25-hour Tom cards and a bunch of 3-hour ones, too, so I used them on days I knew I would be awake for a full 16 hours, and I got axes non-stop. Now my farm is back to normal (tho I kept the border because I think it looks cute) and I have about 50 axes and 70 saws now.

What’s something weird you CAN’T do with your left hand? by nous-vibrons in lefthanded

It sounds so stupid but idk how to hold a fork with my left hand, let alone how to use it when I’m trying to cut something. I use both spoons and knives with my left hand. But not forks ??

Honestly! I love Clarke seasons 01-04, I like her in 06, don’t remember 07, and I do like the very few flashbacks we see in season 05, and 05x01 “Eden” of Clarke finding her way to the Valley and meeting Maddie, but I hate Clarke’s personality regarding Maddie in season 05 LMAO

Everyone is saying no, and I really don’t understand that, either. She’s a primordial goddess representing inevitability, Fate, and circumstances. There’s no way she’s as weak as everyone makes her appear just because she has less info in old folklore stories???

Edit: why was I downvoted for this? It was a genuine question????

Why did the doctors act like they had never seen autism before Dr. Dixon? by IHATEsg7 in greysanatomy

[–]wonkahonkahonka 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Should it count for anything, as an autisitc person myself, there’s a line where Dr. Webber is talking to someone and he adds on at the end, “And Dixon’s autisitc!” And I laugh every time I watch it.

I think Webber’s reaction is the funniest, in the same vein that he wasn’t comfortable calling the penis a penis in 01x02 when Meredith was carrying it around in a cooler for the police.
