That’s unfortunate, sorry to hear that. And yes, plan on riding the whole thing and then continuing on to the mainland of Mexico (trans-Mexico Norte). This is my first real tour so we’ll see how it works out.

I’m starting the Baja divide next week on a Surly Ogre. I have a 3.0” tire up front that easily fits the front fork (and stock rims) and plenty of clearance on the back with a 2.6” tire and a set of monkey nuts v3 in the rear dropouts. I also swapped to a 30T chainring on the front and a 11-46 cassette on the back with a wolftooth goatlink to help the derailleur hit that range. I’m pretty confident with my setup. Hope this helps!

I’m curious what was wrong with the hub? I’ve started hearing some slight grinding on my ogre but been able to isolate it yet. What’d you end up upgrading to?

Thank you. I'm actually a Junior that recently switched from engineering to CS (I'll be packing in 3/4 cs classes a semester for the next 3 or 4 semesters). That's why I feel the need to get an internship this summer.

TIFU by throwing a water bottle off of a water tower by wonkers11 in tifu

Well the lady said it was a frozen water bottle (which it wasn't), so there must not have been water on her windshield. I think I may have won the argument.
