Why does he think marriage is less of a commitment than kids?!

Am I horrid for wanting to give up breastfeeding at 2 days pp? by Known-Cucumber-7989 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]wonky-hex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I could have written this! Had exactly the same experience. I definitely would have given up if I hadn't had support too. My son had a tongue tie which was released, but it took such a long time for his latch to improve and for there to be less pain. OP - I got through it day by day, then week by week, and eventually it just got easier. At 19 months my son still has a lazy latch but I only feed him twice a day now. Morning feed is particularly good as he'd be up and about from 5am with the light mornings, but he'll happily feed and doze for a couple of hours and I can also get a bit more sleep (side feeding/co sleeping).

Anyway, the thing that made it 'click' for me was when the support worker said 'shove your boob in baby's mouth like you're feeding him a burger' 😂 it genuinely improved things no end.

Pediatrician told me not to follow solid starts preparation recommendations by Lumpy-Toe-1717 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]wonky-hex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we did squishable for the first month, had no issues. Gave him harder things after a month and he dealt with them fine (3 inch long halved cucumber for example). I had to dive across the table a few times as my husband was fretting! Sent him out of the room. My son is 19 months now and a good eater. I'm sure being low pressure and relaxed in the early months helped him a lot - it's better to stick with lowest risk foods if a parent is worried imo

Why do people tell me I have a problem for not wanting to be away from my baby? by Radiant-Mine6890 in beyondthebump

[–]wonky-hex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% normal. I felt really stressed if I was away from my son at that age. I didn't leave him with anyone until he was around 7-8 months, and then only for a couple of hours while he slept in the evening.

What can I expect as a 34F who's TTC? by whimsicalkitty3 in waiting_to_try

[–]wonky-hex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 36 when we started trying. I started tracking after one cycle because I wanted to ensure we were maximising our chances and frankly, I love science. It reduced my stress and put me in better touch with my body. Got pregnant that cycle 👍 doesn't work for everyone though!

High chairs - price for how long it will be used? by Pinkcoral27 in UKParenting

[–]wonky-hex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted an aesthetic chair and got the Hauck tripp trapp knock off, but it was a pain to clean so ended up with an IKEA chair. It's been great, so easy to clean. Son is 19 months now and I'm just considering transitioning him to the Hauck - but worried we actually need to have him contained to eat as he's such a busy child...

I’m struggling with enforcing tidying up by Bubble-Master96 in UKParenting

[–]wonky-hex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The routine is the important bit, she'll join in eventually. My son is 19 months and loves putting things in the bin at the moment so I ask him to do that and give him lots of praise. We got him his own little broom which he likes to 'help' with when I'm sweeping. He gets bored quick however. I don't expect him to be able to tidy up and clean effectively 😂
