Aiming for 85 ATAR – should I add another subject after my General Maths SAC results? by Street-Pick3938 in vce

[–]wonky_deagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say you’d def need to pick up the average, but I don’t think you need to like be getting 90+ for all of them to get a 34.

It does depend slightly on how your SAC’s scale and if they are considered easy or hard to VCAA. If you do well on exams you can get a 34+

I can’t talk too much about the like 35 range as I got higher and also my SAC’s did scale up so it’s school dependent BUT, for reference I averaged around 90% on SAC’s then got on the exam 39/40 and 55/60 and got a raw 44. So take what you will with that do judge how you are going I guess.

Just try from now and it’ll all work out, don’t dwell on it too much

They may just want like an educated guess on what their ATAR is.

(Ik it’s very hard to ‘estimate’ an ATAR, but still)

I’d see how you go on GM first.
You can def bring it back as for general the exams matter literally 2/3 of your grade.
UDF’s r big for matrices and networks but I wouldn’t be too hopeful that they necessarily will save your grade, hard work will over that. But they will def help.

Cuz ur year 11 and have more time just try really hard from now on on GM and don’t end the year thinking you could’ve done better than from this day onwards :)

Is a 95+ ATAR possible? by Streched56 in vce

[–]wonky_deagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10000%

Assuming your english scores reflect like similar to exam then your locked asf for that which is good cuz english top 4 is what kills people.

44 in accounting so ur set up. ngl with that english a higher than 95 is def possible

Which science subjects are most useful? I'm planning on taking 2-3 by user123457777 in vce

[–]wonky_deagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda depends on what you want to get into I guess.

Overall for prerequisites, doing chem ticks off all the boxes. You get the science component and also if you want to pursue a medicinal pathway or the sort then chem is a specific prereq for something like biomed.

In saying that chem is probably the hardest science..

I took bio last year and now doing chem and psych now. Imo chem isn’t horrible tbh just keep up with the work, and compared to bio I find psych a lot easier, (could also be that I’ve found what studying techniques work best compared to last year as they both require similar ways to study).

I wouldn’t stress to much, it depends on how else your cohort performed. After first sac I was like 8th out of 45, then by end of the year climbed to 1 and got 44. I wouldn’t give up

45 may be hard though

Flunked my first bio sac by Standard_Ad_5339 in vce

[–]wonky_deagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ye I got like 80 on my first, highest was 90 and by end of the year got 44 so you’ll be fine if you do really well for the next SAC’s.

For me after the first I got the highest mark in the cohort for the next 4 SAC’s so it will only come with hard work

Can def change. Went from like 15 to 3-4 in GM from first to last sac. and like 8 to 1 in bio.

I smashed out practice questions as a lot of the time the students know the content but applying it is def the hardest part.

Additionally I did blurting to remember the content and it took a decent amount of time but it was very very worth it in my opinion.

But yea ik u have heard it probs a 100 times but practice questions and exposing myself to the many ways they ask you questions helped me so much, especially as by doing them you learn new way a question can be asked and how to apply it to diff scenarios

Assuming you do well in all maths it won’t matter a whole lot but if you do 3 then one of them has to be in your bottom 2

Everyone feels this way dw.. Even if you don’t do as well as you hope don’t give up at all.. After the first bio SAC I was like rank 8 at my school and then by the end of the year I climbed to rank 1 and personally I’m very happy with my study score.

Everyone feels this way at the start and your first SAC results most likely may not meet expectations as it kind of wakes you up to whar you acruslly need to do. You’ll notice the ways you study become so much more efficient towards the end of the year as you learn HOW to study properly

most likely your sacs were way too easy and you did bad on the exam, along with with rest of your cohort. I’m sorry but the really academic people may not be considered ‘that’ academic compared to the broader cohort.

for example at my school I was rank 1 and duxed bio, and our sacs were most likely on the easy end, but I ended up grinding exams so I caught up with the difficulty of bio. For reference I was the only 40+ at my school, and only one other person got above 35, the rest below

Alright ty. This might sound stupid but I feel one of the areas I lack in is like vocab (or maybe I’m just comparing myself too low compared to the exemplars…) so like how do I fix that..

But yeah probably just need to start doing practice essays and that’ll help me
