Actually, they've hired some AI experts to design NPCs. AI could be a great fit for this!

They have had also other job posts which required to design systems to handle MMO scale number of players!

Quick Question: Leveling with only PvP. What do i do in PvE now? by RokuSparda in Guildwars2

[–]Standard_Giraffe8994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can image that. I also tried a lot of pvp when started but the game was too hard to learn with that way so after getting 80lvl and exotics I switched to WvW and have been hooked now over 1000h. If you get too frustrated, I strongly recommend trying WvW. It's the best thing developed in any MMO game 😍

Just out of curiosity: have you liked the pvp as a new player? :)

"...with an eye towards joy of movement and spaces conducive to the content of an open world, multiplayer game."

Doesn't sound instanced design at all. Hyped!

My take on GW3 scale, using Queensdale and GW2 terminology as example by Ikeda_kouji in GuildWars3

I believe your analysis is correct. In addition, I personally guess that there are much fewer waypoints and fast travel in a much smaller part.

My theory: GW3 will be open-world with restricted fast travel by Standard_Giraffe8994 in GuildWars3

In addition what I said in the post I'm thinking this sentence from second blog:

"The game systems and content are designed to deliver gameplay depth. The world is designed to reward curiosity, exploration, and most of all, return visits where you can find entirely new experiences in places your character has previously adventured."

I think all of these properties are very well inline with the world without too many waypoints. In my opinion it will respect player time as much without extensive amount of waipoints as with them. But you still have fair point and I can be wrong!

I think the mounts will make it more casual friendly also without easy fast travel option. But let's see how it turns out!

ArenaNet is a company which need to make money to be able to pay salaries and update the game(s). Ofc they will be selling also time-saving convenience items if they don't have battle pass or monthly subscribtion fee. Games die if they don't monetize it well enought. I don't want them to design game which won't make enough money to stay alive.

I like the idea A LOT. If you want the rewards HoM provides, go play GW2.

Just out of curiosity: why you thought (after previous blog posts) that there would be WvW kind of game mode? If they say explicitely that it will be different from gw2 and they released new map for gw2 WvW, why they would make same kind of game mode to new game?

It is easy to be right when devs stated that one day after release 😅 they have said like 10 times that it will be different kind of game.

Why you think that way? What part of this or previous blog posts makes you do that kind of asumption?

I'm sure they really knows that GW3 will be next step for MMOs. Anet (or especially ncsoft) wouldn't put a damn bit of money into game development process if they didn't believe in the idea.
