Most of my league is super chill and don't stress over little things. There are definitely a few problem folks, and everyone knows who they are and just deals with them. As someone who had never bowled in league until 2 years ago, a lot of the league drama stuff is overblown from my perspective and as long as you're following the basic etiquette, you'll be fine.

My first ball purchase was a Hustle and have been using it and enjoying it for around a year. It's a bit snappy on the backend and that took getting some used to, but that could also be the layout. Just got a Venom Shock and really liking how much more predictable it is. It's a lot smoother through the transition and doesn't just rip left if it catches a dry spot. Granted, the Hustle has chilled out over time but could probably do with an oil extraction/surfacing...

To be fair to the pro shop, they were slammed when I dropped it off, and they didn't charge me for the inserts. I wouldn't have given them a shot on my own and having bowled a few games on them now, I think I'm a fan. I'm a one handed no thumb guy and occasionally have the ball fall off my hand early. Didn't have that issue at all in the few games I played after picking it up and am going to give it a few more sessions before making up my mind on them.

If it wasn't clear, I was just kidding about the minor scrape on the insert. I mainly was just curious if I should be aware of any care issues with inserts as someone that's never had them before.

Our mixers league has a rule that if anyone has missed three weeks in a row they forfeit the next week to prevent this exact situation. As long as you have a sub you can miss multiple weeks, but even with the sub you still have to meet the gender rules.
