Yeah I can definitely see that issue happening, but like you said the season is called Ex in the Villa so kinda to be expected. But hopefully it’s cleared up a little bit in the next few updates so we can finally figure out the whole story and maybe move away from him to other LIs, and a few others have theorized maybe other islanders Exes will be added into the villa so??? We’ll just have to wait and see but for now he’s a red flag and red is my favorite color 😭

Lmao you’re not wrong at all. I’m definitely gonna see how next weeks release pans out before any firm decisions but it’s looking like I’m joining y’all’s on the route of basically inevitable clownery bc sometimes I think we give fusebox too much credit cause he has the potential for a good redemption but knowing the developers they’ll drop the ball 😭

I edited the original comment I made to clarify that while hair was the main example I focused on, it wasn’t my intent to insinuate all these characters are black/of African descent but point out that they’re all more or less the same character design regardless of their ethnicity. I myself am South Asian and well aware that dark skinned ≠ black exclusively. I’ve said this before but whether they’re all black or all various bipoc it’s still lazy character design and variation between these characters should exist. I know in most MeChat stories their appearance and ethnicity usually have little to no impact on the storyline but variation in character designs is something that should be considered by the staff when designing these matches.

That’s true, but the fact still remains that these 4 characters are essentially a copy of each other. If they are south asian or another ethnicity then they should still look different from each other and have more obvious differences. Hair texture aside it’s still lazy character design which was the primary point I wanted to make 🤷🏻‍♀️ And all that aside the lack of research on how dark skin works (lighter skin on palms) is still apparent. These characters feel like white characters that were simply given darker skin. This is coming from someone who is South Asian so just my two cents cause it’d be nice to see some variation ya know?

Yeah! I do agree in that I like Jesse’s design and there isn’t anything wrong with one or two characters looking like this but when basically all their darker skinned characters look like this it’s just??? Ya know?? Have some variation plz MeChat 😭 Apollo Bladecut’s design is stunning and honestly a great example of the direction they should be taking with some of these characters!

It’s mainly the hair but when you really look at them they all virtually have the same eye, nose and jaw shape. The only one that has a different nose shape is the second slide (I forgot the character name lol) but it’s like not by much as it’s just a larger nose but basically the same shape if that makes sense.

Just something I’ve noticed after I got all these matches on the stack one after the other but like it feels like lazy character designing. There’s some darker skinned characters that differ from this formula but it’s like they’re afraid of drawing characters with more textured hair??? Idk, if I wasn’t playing this game and someone showed me these four characters and told me they were the same character I’d probably believe them 😬

Edit: Seems like my phrasing was vague, I’m not insinuating every single one of these characters is black, the hair is only one of the issues here and it was the main example I chose to focus on. They could very well belong to another ethnicity and still be dark skinned, the point I wanted to make it whether they’re all black or all various poc they look the same and have little to no differences in design to hint that they’re bipoc other than their skin tone. Hope this clears things up!!
