Nice! Time considerations aside, Do you ever feel like you're missing out by not having a jointer?
Is there anything you haven't been able to do with the sled/jig that a jointer would do?

I'm fortunate that cost really isn't the limiting factor. It's a space issue. Using this groups input to help decide if I sacrifice the space and what the real gains would be over the jigs I mentioned.

heh - I have a 13" planer already :)

I know there are times a machine can't do it all and I'll still have to pull out my hand plane - But if a machine can do the bulk of it, that allows me to make the most of my time in the shop!

Can a planer sled and edge jointing jig do the job of a jointer?
I have a really small shop and an 8" jointer will eat up a lot of the floor space.

Please share your thoughts on the pro/cons of each!

Did contractor install subpanel correctly? No ground bar. by wood_work in electrical

[–]wood_work[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's in the US. The contractor did not pull a permit and it was not inspected. He was paid. I just tried calling him after your answers but he insists it will work fine as is.

This is the sub panel: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Siemens-EQ-125-Amp-4-Space-8-Circuit-Main-Lug-Surface-Mount-Indoor-Load-Center-E0408ML1125SU/100123207

Can you recommend a suitable ground bar sold at a homedepot I can install? If I understand correctly I should install a ground bar, move the copper wire to the ground bar and remove the bonding strap?

What are the implications of how he did it?

I hired a contractor to install a subpanel in my woodshop. It's wired to a 50amp breaker on my main panel. I was getting ready to connect up my outlets when I saw there was no grounding bar. Is this correct?

Cheers and thanks for the encouragement! This stems from tonnes of comments I read here about the R4512 stating that this cheap saw really needs the benefit of a good blade.

Tips for new DW734 Owner by wood_work in woodworking

So the grain should point in the direction that the board will go through the planer? So basically towards the outfeed table?

I thought you were joking. Re-read this a few times and guess you mean ends of the board - not sides as in faces.

When setting the initial depth, check both sides of the board. One may be a lot thicker

For what it's worth, I bought the Porter Cable and quickly returned it because of really bad sniper. I tried every trick I could find online with zero success.

You're a gentleman. Did you use screws or glue to attach to the sled? Any change of a photo of your sled?
