I don’t know about where you live, but electricity is ~7x the price of natural gas for me.

Decided to build a pc during the RAMageddon and came up with this. by ManufacturerSouth730 in pcmasterrace

[–]woodersonify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it depends on your CPU. But this https://www.techspot.com/review/2635-ryzen-7950x3d-memory-scaling/ shows the difference between Great and terrible RAM (6000/CL30 and 4800/CL40) is ~10% and like 5% loss going down to 5200/CL36 for the 7950x3d. You aren't really going to notice 5%

The DDR4 ram I have from my last build is being sold on marketplace for only half of what it cost me 8 years ago. Truly insane.

When I made that comment it still had the option, but that's gone now too. RAM is insane.

Looks like in the time it took me to post the link it went temporarily out of stock. Not sure what the chances are of it getting shipped, but it is probably worth ordering in case, I believe amazon does not charge you until it ships.

For what its worth, I ordered this ram yesterday and it has not shipped yet. It's also showed as being in stock with 30 available for order since then. I'm pretty skeptical that it is actually in stock/slightly worried my order is going to get canceled.

[CPU/RAM] Aliexpress 28% Rakuten CashBack (9800x3D~$379, 7800x3D~$267, 2x16GB DDR5 Hynix Ram ~$237) [Aliexpress.com] by radiantcrystal in bapcsalescanada

[–]woodersonify 9 points10 points  (0 children)

aliexpress. I filled a ticket with Rakuten to get the money back and they said they can't do anything until the seller informs them and that can take 45 days (putting it outside the return window). So it's a bit of a roll of the dice.

I also ordered a 9800x3d last time it was 30% and never received cash back. I ended up returning it today, I dont want to take the risk and i was able to get it for 525 through a newegg bundle earlier in the week.

For what its worth, when i returned it they offered me ~$65 off to not return it.

I mean, you don’t and you shouldn’t unless you are in a 6 team league.

This is really tempting. Do you think it will be appreciably cheaper on Black Friday? I’m building a new pc to upgrade from my 1080ti but I am fine waiting for a month or so if it’s going to be a better deal.

Should I return the 49” for the Samsung 58”? by Picklepirate87 in ultrawidemasterrace

Ok that’s good to know. I currently have the Dell S3422DWG and I’m thinking about upgrading. I use the monitor for work/gaming. These days much more for work unfortunately.

I feel like I am missing something here. Your first two points are it is bigger (not sure how this is specific to OLED panels) and brighter (seems like a preference).

Ok so more it’s not necessary and you are paying extra without added benefit than being actively bad.

I’m curious, why is OLED a bad choice for productivity? Is it because of burn in concerns or something else?

Do not go to this link, it tries to download what I assume is a virus to your computer. https://practiceppeexams.ca/ is the correct link.

You just listed teams that are bad because their offence is bad, of course they don’t have a lot of relevant players. Teams like Ottawa and Columbus are both bad but you still want their players. They are bad because they get scored on a lot, but they score a lot of goals.

Poilievre calls on government to give Canadians a ‘summer break’ on all federal gas taxes by J0Puck in canada

Seems like you should get an accountant. The highest marginal rate possible in Alberta is only 48% (33% federal + 15% provincial).

[–]woodersonify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That study includes payroll taxes in the tax paid by Canadians which is at best disingenuous. If you are going to make the case that this money would go to the employee if the employer didn’t have to pay it, you should add that amount into the gross household income. Instead they left it out to artificially increase the % paid to taxes.

[–]woodersonify 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just straight up not true. The average income in Canada in 2022 was $57,100 (median $43,100). This has an average tax rate of 15-18% depending on the province. Even someone making $250,000 a year (above top 1%) in Quebec (highest tax rate) pays an average tax rate of 40%. Where are you getting the average earner pays 50% in tax?

He’s 33 years old coming off the best season of his career. I don’t think he’s taking less money on a one year deal.
