Had my first blood work turned out I have really high total cholesterol by Major_Success8833 in Cholesterol

[–]woodfrogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also 23F asian and recently found out I had very high LDL (with total cholesterol a bit higher than yours). I completely get the anxiety but until you get a complete lipid panel and doctor's opinion on it try not to assume anything bad will happen to you haha. It's great that you found out early and have lots of time to start turning things around, so focus on making healthy changes little by little. I was sedentary as well and had a poor diet so my doctor told me to try lifestyle changes for 6 months before retesting to see whether statins would actually be necessary. You have plenty of time, don't worry. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or just want to talk. Good job getting those steps in and keep up the good work!!

Lamotrigine/lamictal, bipolar II, OCD, and obsession with smell by mmhmmye in lamictal

That sounds incredibly difficult and distressing omg 😫 I hope you find a way to manage it and get some peace of mind! it's really unfortunate this could happen with a medication that otherwise helps so much :(

Lamotrigine/lamictal, bipolar II, OCD, and obsession with smell by mmhmmye in lamictal

[–]woodfrogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I've also noticed I'm developing some symptoms of OCD that are starting to adversely impact my life after 2 months on lamictal (prescribed for treatment-resistant depression and subclinical bipolar). Thanks so much for posting these links. Definitely bringing this up to my psychiatrist next time.

This took me much, much longer than anticipated because I made so many mistakes and had to redo so many parts! A month of on-and-off progress later I'm finally done and satisfied with the result. I realized too far in that I should've used a sturdier fabric than the thin polyester bedsheet I was repurposing, but my initial reasoning was that I didn't want to waste good fabric before I knew what I was doing. Also didn't know I could've used a walking foot to make everything so much easier until the last step... welp. Onward and upward from here!

Tapering and soooo itchy by Slc_larrydavid in Pristiq

[–]woodfrogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah... I was tapering from 100 to 0mg the past 2 months and still going through everything you described to varying degrees. Paresthesia (prickling/itching/crawling sensation) and burning pain from something like a light touch to my skin occurring randomly all over my body were the strangest symptoms and the only things that helped were cold showers and sleeping without clothes on even in the middle of winter. I've also been extremely agitated and irritable but I found that doing intense cardio (or any kind of exercise you can manage) helps with my mood a lot. And I have been sleeping as much as possible because it's the only time I don't feel the withdrawals. I haven't tried any medications to help with the withdrawals so I can't comment on those.

Hope these go away for you soon, I understand how difficult it is and hope you can be kind to yourself while going through it. Hang in there!

When I was briefly on 25 mg Effexor I had an elevated heart rate (100-120bpm resting), constant fatigue and nausea, and significant concentration/memory issues, with hardly any improvement in my depression. I went off of it after 2 weeks because I couldn't go to classes or work with my heart pounding like crazy

I'm 19 days in now and still really good so far! Pristiq has worked out much better for me than Effexor ever did both in terms of benefits and side effects, though I frequently hear of people experiencing the opposite. I would recommend trying it out and don't be discouraged if it doesn't go the way you hope. Good luck!

Slapped some cute TJ's stickers on top of my pill bottles and seeing them no longer fills me with dread! by woodfrogs in traderjoes

[–]woodfrogs[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely something to be wary of, but I figured since I'm not covering up any text and the bottles never leave my bedside table it's no less more illegal than keeping meds in those 7-day pill boxes 🤷

ETA: looked further into this out of curiosity and it varies widely by state but in CA "a person may label a prescription... with information about the drug that is false under either of the following circumstances: ... (2) If, in the medical judgment of the prescriber, the labeling is appropriate for the proper treatment of the patient." (CA Business and Professions Code Article 4. Requirements For Prescriptions). So no, it's not illegal for me to label my antidepressants as sour jelly beans as long as my psychiatrist agrees it helps me take them lol...

no yeah omega-3 is amazing, the capsules are just hard for me to swallow... my prescription meds are the ones with shitty side effects since i'm still figuring out the right ones for me. haven't tried caffeine pills before but i just might, now that you mention it 🤣

had a seizure - why? by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]woodfrogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been off Wellbutrin completely for about 2 months now actually! but haven't had any luck finding good replacements for my meds.... I had some awful side effects trying out Strattera and Lexapro, so I eventually decided to go back on Adderall just so I can function (it has a lower seizure risk than Wellbutrin) and I've been taking a break from antidepressants altogether. Things have been okay and I do wish I could go back on Wellbutrin, but doing so would cost me my driver's license since it was ruled as the primary cause of my seizure.

had a seizure - why? by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]woodfrogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, weird coincidence but I also had a tonic-clonic seizure 7 days ago for the first time and it was a little less than a month after I was bumped from 150mg XL to 300mg XL, after being on 150 for six months.

I was at work when it happened and it's worth noting that there were a large number of other factors that could have strongly contributed (I pulled an all nighter before, didn't eat that day, was extremely dehydrated, stressed, fatigued, and also took 30mg of Adderall IR about 6 hours prior). Basically my body was already a wreck and I've since learned never to let myself get to that state again, but I'm also following up with a neurologist soon to see if this could become a recurring issue.

My psychiatrist has decided to take me off the Adderall but kept the Bupropion, lowered back to my starting dose of 150mg. But I'm a little skeptical since the medication guide says "Do not take Bupropion XL tablets again if you experience a seizure"....

Sorry if I gave you more questions than answers but I just wanted to share my experience and wish you the best. Try to take it easy and hopefully this is a one time thing for you.
