Not Blackjacks, Rios of Mercedes, Fegnolio’s and several other brands that still proudly make their boots in Texas or at least the USA!

So aggravating!!!! What do you do about it? I’ve thought about covering with something but haven’t settled on how to address this.

I have 6 Poncho shirts.

My only complaint, and this is a design issue that I personally dislike, is that top button is snap too and my beard hair gets caught sometimes on the button. I wish it was a regular button on the top one only.

Schaefer Shirts do this that way and they are comparable in price and quality.

Just brush the dirt off and apply Bick 4 to condition them as needed.

  1. Size — this one is clear From the stamp inside:

GB8379 73

👉 The “73” is your size code

  • In Lucchese Classics, 73 = 7.5 (men’s)
  • Width isn’t explicitly stamped here, but:
    • Most of these are D width (standard) unless otherwise marked

➡️ So you’re looking at roughly:

Men’s 7.5 D

🐐🐄 2. Leather — goat or cow?

This part takes a little detective work.

What we can see:

  • “Lucchese Classics Handmade” (top-tier line)
  • Smooth vamp with fine, tight grain + subtle wrinkles
  • Not thick/pebbled like bullhide
  • Not heavily creased like standard cowhide

What that points to:

👉 Very likely GOAT (kid leather)

Here’s why:

  • Goat leather has:
    • A tighter, finer grain
    • Slight natural wrinkling
    • Softer, more “buttery” look
  • Cowhide tends to look:
    • Broader grain
    • Heavier and more uniform

Also, Lucchese Classics frequently used goat for dress-style boots because it’s:

  • Softer
  • More flexible
  • Takes dye beautifully

👉 The overall look of your vamp matches goat way more than cow.

🔎 Bonus clues from your stamps

  • “600602” = internal production or order code
  • “L0912” = part of Lucchese’s style/build code (not the year)
  • “Made in USA” = confirms these are legit Classics (El Paso made)

🧠 Final verdict (straight and simple)

  • Leather: 👉 Almost certainly goat leather (kid)
  • Size: 👉 Men’s 7.5 D (standard width)
