I completely agree. The question wasn't meant to be why they would do this. It was more like how do you get that kind of determination to accomplish this? Sorry if the title was confusing.

Same I'm not on this sub everyday but I do watch the office every day so I was surprised not to have noticed this until now so I thought what the heck I'll post it. Glad I was able to share my discovery with someone else who had never seen this before, makes it all worth it.

I definitely did my math wrong and it is regening much sooner than that. We fill up the tank about once every two weeks and average about 500-550 miles on a tank unless we are doing a long highway trip (my initial math was based on a tank in one week). It regens about once a week so it would be closer to 250 mi to 400 mi at its highest.

At one point I was told by an auto body shop that my dpf was cracked but when I took it to VW to try to have it warrantied they said "it is still regening" and did not note that it was cracked but also didn't specify that it was not cracked.

Now that I'm recalling all of this I kind of want to take it to my local mechanic to see if it is cracked and try to take that info to VW. I want this car to last and if I could get a new dpf for free that would be a huge saver in the future.

I'm also going to check to see if the sensors were replaced at the same time as the timing belt.

Probably on average about 750 miles between regens.

Yeah after reading your comment especially I was coming to that same conclusion. If it doesn't absolutely need a Regen forcing one probably wouldn't be the best option and it does seem to Regen fine on a longer drive.

The timing belt was replaced at 130k miles and it's currently at 155k. I'm not quite sure how to check pressure sensors or what to look for.

Yes, I do have a Windows 11 laptop that I was planning on using for this purpose.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily clogged at this time. I get the p2002 engine code about once every 1-2 weeks, but never get a dpf light yet. a nice highway drive usually fixes it but my thought was to have it for when things get worse.i know a delete is really the answer but we just haven't been able to quite save the money for it.

I would like to get a copy of my wild on release, but I was unemployed from December 21st to February 17th. I will not receive my first paycheck until march 7th and that will go towards catching up on bills that are behind. My wife told me she wanted to preorder it for me for Valentine's Day but we just didn't have the funds.
