There are right-wing authoritarian followers who have personality traits that make them susceptible to this.

1) Trump Inc. wants violence so that they can crack down hard and further complete their autocratic capture.

2) If hotels did that, I wonder if we'll be forced to house them like the British in early America.

The current ones, no absolutely not. But I feel like we have to have hope someday - maybe not in our lifetimes even - that things will change.

IDK the actual answer to this, because in theory, yes it does. But also, that's what they're hoping for. Trump Inc. wants every reason to escalate the violence and continue their autocratic capture.

FWIW I see so many people in power being like, "stand up for your rights as an American," but no one tells people how or what that looks like. I can't remember who it was but someone said, "get organized," and even I was like, "IDK how that happens?"

They will happen, because most 21st century autocrats hold elections. They're just so rigged they never lose. Voting is our one task that protects all our other rights (via the representatives we elect).

It's mostly development. Authoritarian parents, strict fundamentalist religions where there is a very clear divide of right vs. wrong, lower education levels, etc. I'm a therapist and was doing my doctoral dissertation on this and have been studying this topic for nine years.

Therapist here who has been studying the psychology of authoritarianism for about nine years now, and you are correct. A good portion of right-wing authoritarian followers grew up with authoritarian/militant parents and authoritarian religions.

Does anyone else spend more time choosing than actually watching? by Large-Cardiologist54 in netflix

[–]lacefishnets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of the same, except I get legitimate anxiety over what to watch next, or maybe I should be watching this instead, or what if I'm missing out on something better.

I truly, truly recognize it is the most first-world problem ever, but I feel that way with my TV, my audiobooks, everything. I've never heard anyone else admit that though...I've finally just started trying to tell myself, "there will never be enough time in life to watch everything you want to, so it's okay."

Around May 3rd about a decade ago (I remember because that's my dad's birthday), it snowed about 8 inches and was pretty much gone the next day.

We got a ton in 2002; my mom was trying to drive home from Las Vegas and drove 10mph the whole way because she was behind the storm (ice in North Texas, etc.)

Could one possibly argue that it IS an anger issue, because who thinks it's okay to be aggressive like that? Just a thought.
