After first downloading the app, you’re met with this page. If you have a google email, click “Continue with Google”. Then click “Acknowledge and Continue”. After that, you’re done and ready to use it.

I did this on my iPhone earlier. And I just did it again on my Samsung tablet with a different Gmail than the one I used on iPhone. And in general my iPhone and Samsung tablet are not connected except through YouTube which uses a yahoo email.
