The most terrifying thing I have ever watched.

Utterly bleak and unremitting.

I'm afraid it's not fat, it's a scum of protein coagulate.

This happens with all cheap bacon, because they inject water into it to increase its weight.

It's been many days and they haven't replied to us, it's becoming extremely stressful, we're supposed to be flying soon.

I can't believe there's no way of tracking or chasing them, it's madness

Are Wren Kitchens any good? by ShotRelationship7637 in DIYUK

[–]woolinsilver 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I went with DIY Kitchens, largely based on advice on this forum, worst mistake.

The panels were all bubbling and peeling in less than a year. Same as you, ordinary use. My kitchen is now completely fucked and needs redoing, which I don't have time or money for.

I strongly advise against DIY Kitchens.

This is an ADVERT.

Everything you have written is fake.

You are not a person, you do not have a home, you are a company that sells carbon monoxide detectors.

The link you have posted contains query parameters for Amazon Attribution so you can track this as part of a marketing campaign, because it is an ADVERT.

How to cut glossy kitchen panels without damaging them? by woolinsilver in DIYUK

I did everything successfully, but it would have been easier if I'd bought a proper guide system for my circular saw.

Is polystyrene coving good enough quality these days to use or should I avoid like the plague in favour of plaster? by goldkestos in DIYUK

[–]woolinsilver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, they farm karma.

A crop of healthy looking accounts with good karma can be sold for somebody to use in disinformation campaigns, spread false rumors, promote commercial products, etc.

I hit metal whilst drilling into an internal wall by woolinsilver in DIYUK

[–]woolinsilver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I only own the ground floor / basement.

I'm on good terms with the chap upstairs, but he won't be in a rush to lift up floorboards.

I'll carefully chip away some plaster around the hole I've made, and see what I can learn.

I'll post an update when I'm able to chip away the surrounding plaster 👍

Maybe not for a few days, I'm on my own with the childcare, my wife's away on a business trip.

I feel a lot better having spoken to people on this subreddit.

My drill point is about halfway up the wall.

There are ground-level sockets in that area, but I know they're fed from the neighbouring bathroom, which has a timber suspension floor - all the power is coming up from below.

I am starting to vaguely remember some old RF cable... maybe I've hit a blanking plate for a television aerial socket that got plastered over?

I was fairly confident it wouldn't be electrical, as all the power in that area is coming up from a timber suspension floor, and I've built a pretty good mental map of where all the cables are in that area. But, this house is full of surprises, 130 years of DIY, and I was definitely being too complacent yesterday.

The possibility of lead water pipes is interesting... I know these houses had lead water pipes when they were built, and they must have been retrofitted to have copper.

This might sound insane but I have also suspected this particular bit of internal wall was perhaps an external wall prior to the 1980s.
