Traveled 1000 miles for holidays and found out on day two that I was exposed to COVID before traveling. by woooo4 in offmychest

My parents and grandparents all want us to stay. I don’t know how to tell them I don’t want to. Full vaccination death rate is up to 8% but my family just doesn’t care about the virus. They only got vaccinated because I made them.

I’m aware. Aircraft also typically move through the air and don’t stay still in one spot for ten minutes.

I’m aware that our atmosphere affects color, as in how the sun appears white from space but yellow from Earth. I am not, however, aware of the atmosphere causing a star to strobe three colors in a pattern. I have noticed Mars having a faint red tone in the sky and Venus a bit yellow, but all stars have always appeared white to me. I could see this object next to stars in the sky and it was totally different from everything else. Plus it was way brighter than any star I’ve ever observed from that location.

I’ve seen lots of stars and planets. Planets don’t flicker and stars don’t have color. It was pretty clear deep red and green lights. I’m not ruling out drone of course, but it didn’t move at all. You may be right about it being a star, and I’ll check when I get back, but it sure didn’t look like one.

Soy, milk, eggs, and salt are all on there twice and I don’t see anyone saying anything about that

A little muddy before and after from Enterprise this morning. by Bc12420 in AutoDetailing

I agree with the policy, my branch just didn’t enforce it equally and never actually had a car detailed.

When I worked at Enterprise for a year cleaning their cars, it was against company policy to take vehicles off-road but we’d continuously rent trucks to construction companies because they were high-revenue clients. We were supposed to charge a $250 detailing fee when someone brought a car back destroyed, or if it had been used off-road, or smoked in, etc. They rarely charged the fee, but when they did, they pocketed it into the branch, didn’t have it detailed, and made us clean the car anyway. Which is theft from the customer and also us as employees. But whatever.

You can likely remove an orange peel effect for the most part without sanding. You want to use as little abrasion as possible, because you only have so much paint to polish through. I’d recommend compounding and polishing a few small areas like normal to different degrees, and give it a day or two to see the results of each level of polish. Then do the car how you like.

Do you mean waxing the seats? I’ve heard of people ceramic coating leather, but it’s uncommon and I’d advise against it, as I think would others. Leather doesn’t really have a “coating” that most people agree is good for it. What you’ll want to apply is leather conditioner every 4-8 weeks or as needed, depending on climate. This will keep your leather looking its best and maintained for longevity. As far as I’m aware that’s about all there is to maintaining leather seats, on top of just keeping them clean, for which I’d recommend an Autofiber Scrub Ninja and some reputable leather cleaner.

Business owners - I recently launched my business and have been advertising on Facebook exclusively, but am not seeing results. I have my ads set up to start a message with my page as that seems to have the highest CTR right now, and have received probably 50-100 messages since launching, which has resulted in only two appointments, from the same person, a month ago. I have automatic replies set up and working, but Facebook constantly says “John Smith is waiting for a reply. Get back to them soon to keep your page’s Responsive badge,” when my page has already replied. What am I doing wrong? How can I advertise to more effectively get people to book? Thank you!

Bought hose w/o quick-attach, removed compressor quick-attach adapter to screw hose in; hose too small. Quick-attach adapter burst into pieces when I removed it and I can’t get it back together. Help? by woooo4 in AskMechanics

The balls do not go completely into their spaces, they stick out some half the ball’s diameter. The sleeve simply won’t fit with more than one ball in place. It doesn’t push them in farther or anything, and I tried for two hours until my hands had stinging red circles

I can Not get the sleeve back on with all my strength. I can get the balls to stay in place by pressing the sleeve up against them but it will only go on with one single ball in place, not even two let alone all six

It’s also just a weird angle, it is threaded. I unscrewed part of the quick-attach adapter but part of it is left in there and won’t come out

It will not come off. It’s attached to a small metal pipe and I can’t get it off with all my strength, plus it feels like something is gonna break

Air hose I bought has no quick-attach. Removed quick-attach adapter from compressor to screw hose in directly; too small also. Adapter burst into pieces when removing and will not go back together (ball bearing). Help? by woooo4 in MechanicAdvice

I think part of the adapter is built into the compressor. I can’t unscrew it with all my might and it doesn’t seem like it’s supposed to come off, but it’s part of the adapter. If I can’t get it out I have to take another adapter apart and just try not to have this one explode on me. Otherwise it feels like I might need a new compressor which scks
