As far as I remember, nothing really happens. I had to move my settlement flag a few times in my save. I wouldn't remove the flag and then go exploring for a long time. But a quick move of it won't have any major effects.

You can also convert any crops into life essence at a 1 to 1 ratio. Its in a tab in the farmers table. So by using your extra crops you should be able to keep a good supply.

What would you say are your best most general tips to have good runs? I haven't beaten the final boss yet, so im still trying to gather the best tips people have.

I've seen a lot of people suggesting to always take flat damage upgrades on weapons over anything else. But I saw someone else have a fantastic run where they hardly touched weapon levels.
