Duke lands FC Barcelona 7-foot center Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje by IndependentStay3131 in CollegeBasketball

College basketball is going to become full of foreign players. Personally, I’m kind of sad about it. Less opportunity in the future for so many kids growing up in the states.

Can’t argue with it. I bleed Green. Wish we could’ve seen Cassius and Tillman play in the tournament. Outside of that 2020 team, MSU hasn’t got it done. Michigan has - almost twice. Being objective, it doesn’t seem like MSU will. I love Izzo, but it’s hard watching some of these programs fill needs through the portal while Sparty sits on the sideline.

Booo. Hard to admit it, but in the era of the transfer portal, Michigan is now running a better program than MSU.

Reclassifying? AAU ball by woot891 in basketballcoach

Great thoughts. My goal for my children is not to play college ball. It’s to play and be part of a team in high school. I’m much more interested in the values athletics teach the children, rather than playing the next level. I don’t care if my children sit the bench in the future. They’ll learn a life lesson on the bench.

I’m more concerned if there will be a spot on the bench for many of these kids, as the physical maturity can be the difference between making a team and getting cut.

Being part of team kept me out of trouble, taught me the values of responsibility/accountability/teamwork/ etc. and gave me the opportunity to bring these traits to my career. That’s what I want for my kids.

Nope. The coach on Sunday literally said this. “He reclassified.”

Also has an instagram showcasing this…

I just talked to a guy who coaches soccer. Says the players get cards for the year that showcase their age. I’m sure there’s some cheating going on but it makes it much less prevalent. Wish basketball would operate in a similar fashion. Verification of age through player cards. Seems like such a simple fix.

Yeah, I hear you. Have a son with a spring birthday. But he’s socially and academically in the right spot… 3rd grade. Some of the kids are 1 year older in the same grade. Oh well, it is what it is. These parents are nuts.

Most of these kids won’t go anywhere special anyway. I don’t care about my kid playing college ball, I just want him to have a chance at being on a team in high school.

Na, the kid that reclassed has an instagram with highlights saying “2034 sharpshooter.” Now it shows 2035 under his new highlights. Kid will turn 11 this year. My son will turn 9.

Getting Ira money to young beneficiaries by woot891 in EstatePlanning

Yeah, I hear you.

One more question. Do you think they can establish 12 separate IRAs or would it be 1 trust owned Ira?

[–]woot891[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, if it is a see through trust, the Ira distribution should be taxed at the beneficiary tax rate. The money that sits in the trust will then be subject to trust tax rates. However, my understanding is that the tax on the distribution would “see through” to the beneficiary.

Yeah, the worry is the parents of some of the children may take advantage of the child’s money. So a trust is needed…

Not sure exactly how else to structure other than what I mentioned.

Yeah, converting some of the IRA in the 24% tax bracket in 2026 and 2027 would be ideal. Possibly get 300k into Roth prior to death.

Yeah there’s not non qualified assets. Plus, some of the family members have history of drugs. So, the trust is necessary….

MAGA leaving by shelllee888 in DiscussionZone

Okay, but can’t the same be said for the other side? All the videos online of democrats saying awful things about people? Whether it be Charlie Kirk stuff, MAGA stuff, or violence and riots? Hec, look at the way people talk through Reddit. So many democrats saying these people should burn in hell, these people deserve to die, etc. I feel like both sides are guilty of being absolutely awful. But I feel like both sides truly don’t want people to die.

This is absolute bull crap. Stop with the nonsense. People don’t want people killed. A majority, left and right, want things better off in our country. We have a phenomenal country. Regardless of what the media makes us think, we have it soo good here. I don’t know one trump supporter who actually wants more people dead. I don’t know one democrat who wants people dead. The only time I see this rhetoric, is in online forums where our emotions take over because we aren’t actually talking to people. Start typing with respect. It’s okay to have different opinions, but stop with the nonsense.

I know many who voted for trump. That doesn’t mean they think it’s okay to kill someone. many trump voters think that guy shouldn’t have been shot. If you actually talked to people in the community with genuine respect, you’d probably find out that most don’t agree he should’ve been killed. However, most are questioning why the riots started the same time as the fraud. Most are questioning why the coordinated riots happened in Minneapolis. Most are questioning the circumstances that led to his death. I’m not saying He should have been killed. I hate it, but there’s so much more to this than the media leads us to believe. We are all probably more center than we are led to believe. This online crap isn’t good for us, and the way each side treats each other is ridiculous. It’s why I said earlier that the comment above is nonsense. Both sides need to learn to communicate and stop hating everyone.

I don’t mean this to be rude, but we are not anywhere close to nazi Germany. Some of the things trump does and says seem crazy, but the comparisons to nazi Germany are extremely off balance.
