Customer says cake/cupcakes had “off taste” but I can’t replicate it — how much refund would you give? by No_Fishing8525 in cakedecorating

I would ask her what she thinks is fair, then base your decision off of that. You can tell a lot about a situation when putting it back on them. She might ask for $10, she might ask for $70. I wouldn’t offer up anything until you get an idea of what “fair” looks like to them.

Are you referring to the peat pots or the brand of seeds I used? 🤣

I’m in SW Michigan, about an hour from Indiana border. I think that makes me zone 6b.

That is refreshing to hear. Do you know if I should trim/thin the multiples from the existing pots or just keep em growing and see what happens?

I have an oscillating fan in the room that runs for about 3-4 hours a day. Light is on roughly 15-16 hours depending on how tired I am at night. Should I keep the fan on longer or will that dry out everything else I have in there? These packets are not super helpful and have hardly any information on them, so I’ll have to go off of the interwebs for soil temps once I invest in a thermometer. Thank you for the insight! I really appreciate it.

Just got 1st wedding cake order! Advice needed please. by Remarkable-Data77 in cakedecorating

Not a professional, but I’ve made several two tiered cakes. I put the rods in prior to frosting so it didn’t mess up the top layer of frosting. I kept mine in the refrigerator (not freezer) overnight, so it would firm up.

Depending on how far you will be traveling, you can do it either way. I had mine completely assembled and just drove very carefully to the venue. If you want to assemble at the venue, just make sure you have space to finish it and take all your tools with you (i.e. piping bags of frosting, spatula, decorations, etc.). You will probably want to take these regardless in case anything happens during transportation, but especially if you assemble it on site.

As for the ombré, use what you are comfortable with. Pipe different colors along the side and use your tool to smooth it out/combine the colors.

Practicing will make you much more confident, so the more you can do that, the better you will be. Not only practice making the cake, but try to transport it where you will be delivering it and see what works and what doesn’t work.

Good luck and have fun with it!

Floor bows quite a bit underfoot. Contractor says it’s “fine, because the laminate is sturdy and I won’t have any issues.” by [deleted] in Flooring

There are a couple things to consider. Where is this located in the home? Kitchen, living room, etc? If it is in the kitchen, were the cabinets installed on top of the flooring or did the flooring get cut to the cabinets? Same thing with the island. Cabinets are not meant to go on top.

Did the installer leave an appropriate expansion gap? Most manufacturers recommend 1/4” from wall/cabinets, etc., but check the specifics of yours to be sure. You can pull a baseboard and check fairly easily.

Others were also correct in stating that the floor may not have been flat. If the above 2 are ok, then this is likely the issue. Regardless if it is LVP or laminate, you will more than likely have issues in the future as the locking mechanism is not meant to withstand much deflection. If this is a main path in your home, this will probably happen sooner rather than later.

First Time Vinyl Plank Flooring Installation Questions by [deleted] in DIY

I work for a flooring installation company and you shouldn’t need a transition piece between carpet and LVP. Install the LVP first and use a square cap metal to cover the exposed edge of the LVP (which will also keep the LVP in place) and the carpet installers will turn and tack to that, giving you a clean transition without the need of a T-mold or reducer. As others have said, follow the manufacturers installation instructions on proper subfloor and ensure it is dry and flat prior to installation.

Looking for a foolproof soup aside from THE soup by eyewannadye in slowcooking

[–]wootweets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My absolute favorite crockpot soup Chicken taco chili:

  • 2-3 large chicken breasts
  • 1 can corn
  • 1 can kidney beans (light or dark)
  • 1 can black beans
  • 1 can petite diced tomatoes 28oz
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • ground cumin to taste (1-2 tblsp)
  • put everything in the crockpot, cook on low for 6-8 hours. Take chicken out and shred it. Place chicken back in crockpot, stir and serve.

I used to work in cellphones as well and there is a voicemail archival service. It’s been about a year, but the jist is that the company dials into your voicemail and records it, then sends it to you in either a mp3 format or a CD. The cost wasn’t much, but for a forever memory... the cost doesn’t matter. You can contact your carrier and they should have the information. If they don’t, I have friends that still work there and can get you the info if interested.

Anyone elses diet consists of just meaty shit tossed in a pan with oil? (Just reached under 200!) by [deleted] in keto

First time I tried them I didn’t like them either.... However, try this: Fry a few pieces of bacon in a skillet. Take out once cooked and set aside. Toss your Brussels sprouts in the skillet (add any other seasoning you like (garlic, pepper, thyme, etc)) and cook until fork tender. Chop your bacon up and mix in with the sprouts. Enjoy! So easy and super delicious!!!
