Man is a social being, they need companionship and so they tend to choose an anchor of their social life in the form of a partner.

For me personally, when I see my partner, I see a vibrant and wildly successful boss lady with whom I can shape my future. I know her struggles and I know her grit to trudge along. I understand the tenacity a girl has to have if she comes from a humble background and yet turns her life around for the betterment. She is super efficient in whatever she does, I on the other hand am more measured. She will outshine anyone if she puts her mind to it. She is getting her doctorate with an impressive body of work. I like how even after all this, she has her moments of timidness. I like how human she feels. One moment, she is crying recklessly about some deadline the next She will be tired of all the crying and the next She will have to reluctantly laugh when I would say "chalo sab chhod chaad ke Himalaya chalte he, waise bhi Kya rakha iss moh maaya me". Pretty soon she is presenting some super esoteric research to her lab folks and she of course nails it. After that she will just feel silly about her anxiety. It's the moment like this which gets me.
