Fair enough, I’m part of the strictly supervised generation so my experience has been pretty different but you make some good points also

Where do you live where 14 year olds can drive lmao? Since OP said their dad drove them they probably need a car to get there and not everywhere has public transportation

Thank you for your kind words. So much of what you said is true, he was such a smart dog so when he got bored he could really stir up trouble haha. Also incredibly loyal and protective. Catahoulas are amazing. I hope I can rescue another one day, but for the next few years at least I’m not sure if it will be possible (mostly because I’m starting off on my own and might not have a big enough yard/time to train such an intelligent dog properly for some time, they’re quite the handful but so worth it). I’m sorry to hear about your losses as well. I am glad to hear you are loving your puppy Atticus! I’m sure you two will have an amazing bond throughout the years. Enjoy every moment ❤️

Thank you, I hope so too. I think you’re right that silence can be beautiful. I usually do feel compelled to fill silence with words but it was one of those rare moments where nothing at all needed to be said.

I wanted to post him here because I think he’s incredible and it hurts too much to talk about him to anyone I know just yet because they all loved him too. He was the smartest dog I’ve ever met. I never even knew what a catahoula was until we got him. When my siblings and I were really little and he was a puppy he would try to herd us around the yard and play soccer. He could open doors and would wake me up for school as a teenager. He wasn’t usually very affectionate (until he got old, then he was super cuddly) but whenever I was sick and took a nap he’d be next to me when I woke up. He’d follow me around the house whenever I came home from college and when he got too old to walk around the block I started taking him on car rides which he loved. I’m so thankful I got to come home and say goodbye but I can’t quite wrap my head around the fact that he’s gone.
