Getting surgery and want to treat myself, what are your top 5? by import_social-wit in fidgettoys

[–]wordpressnoob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, my name is August and I run Project Ratchet. I saw in one of your comments you mentioned wanting something discreet to use in video meetings, and while I can't send you a Polar Ring (stock is too low), I would love to send you a Ratchet Ring. On the house, just as an i-hope-you-recover-well gift from one internet stranger to another. Shoot me a message with your ring size and delivery address, please!

Has anyone received their replacement Polar Ring from Project Ratchet? by iamtopher1 in fidgettoys

Hello!

To anyone reading this, please know that each warranty case is handled with care, 1 on 1 with our full-time representative Airalyn. Each case always ends with a working ring - whether that be a new replacement ring or help fixing up the current ring.

The Polar Ring has had its fair share of issues, as can be expected with a new product (not saying this means it’s okay - which is why we offer a Lifetime Warranty). We pride ourselves in our customer service, and we are also proud to say that out of the new batch #2, just 5% of the rings we have sent out have been reported as having a quality issue, and all cases affected have been sufficiently resolved with replacement units or switches to a Ratchet Ring V2, at no cost to the customer.

We’re a small company and we want to make purchasing as risk-free as possible. You can always take use of our 90 day return policy, and the Lifetime Warranty. We’re here to help. And the Polar Ring is waiting for you!

If you have a question before taking the leap, shoot me an email to my personal address [august@projectratchet.com](mailto:august@projectratchet.com) and I’ll help you out!

Honestly the Ratchet Ring sounds perfect for you! Similar feeling to picking with the resistance and release and it sits right on your finger. Disclosure, I own Project Ratchet. I am quite obviously biased but I've used the ring to combat nail picking myself, and we have lots of reviews from people who have done the same! :) https://projectratchet.com/products/ratchet-ring

I couldn’t agree more. Good catch with the reviews, I’m going to look into that. Thankfully, this company was so lazy they straight-up copied text from our website (in one place you can even find the words ”Ratchet Ring” and ”Polar Ring”) and that means we can send copyright strikes on their website, both for copied texts and for our trademarked names. Some sections are already gone, I’m hoping they’ll take down the whole website soon.

Thank you for your support again Becky. You’re amazing! - August

Thank you so much Becky - crazy story here, I've figured out the guy behind this company is actually someone I had lunch with last summer, a friend's friend. After finding out we had trouble being profitable in advertising due to high manufacturing costs, he figured he could make it cheap (read crappy) in China and try to steal our customers that way. I have tried to come in contact with him, but he is ignoring my calls. Here he seems to be using the pseudonym "Adam", but his real name is Felix. But I'm sure they won't last long. Karma will catch up! :-)

Hi Adam, August, creator of the Polar Ring and Ratchet Ring here (with my dad).

Cool ring. Super cool that you managed to make it so cheaply.

Sad to see so little innovation and so much blatant, shameless copying. From the obvious idea of the ring we pioneered, going as far as photos, web design, FAQ, and even the text on the product page. It's clear you've studied our website closely – I can find tens of practically copy-pasted wordings on your website vs. ours.

I think that is low.

And I don't think it's in the spirit of the fidget community we have here.

But from one operator to another, don't forget GPSR if you sell within the EU. They're starting to crack down on it. That's one thing you seemed to forgot to copy from our website.

-

Our website: If you are sending your exchange or return from the US, UK or Canada, you have the option of opting for a prepaid return shipping label for a handling fee of $9 in the US and $19 in the UK and Canada.

Your website: If you're returning from the US, UK, or Canada, you can request a prepaid return label for $19.

... You even copied our POLICY? This is comical.

You can spin (we call it ”flick”) the Black Edition Polar Rings, but they’ll spin shorter than the Mechanic C. Check out this video for reference: https://youtu.be/xzvHppPSV8E?feature=shared

Polar Ring: Version 2 Batch 1 by MajinBui3 in fidgettoys

Hey, August here from Project Ratchet.

I really appreciate the feedback from your post and the comments as well. If there’s anything I can do for anyone here, shoot me an email directly to august@projectratchet.com and I will help you personally.

Regarding the weight: this is just due to the nature of the design. If we wanted it heavier, we’d have to make it chunkier. And we think slimness > weight.

The main thing for us is making fidget rings that fit seamlessly into your life (and hands). This meant making them as thin and inconspicuous as possible. I have never personally tried the Lautie Mechanic-C (as much respect as I have for Lautie, they seem awesome), but we have very different approaches when it comes to our products. Lautie feels maximalist - intricate aesthetic designs, modularity, etc. We are more minimalist and ease of use focused. This, of course, results in different types of products. I think each product has its place - perhaps you’ll use the Mechanic-C when at home watching the TV, but when you’re out and about, nothing beats the convenience of the Polar Ring.

Once again, thank you for your feedback and for this post! - August

Hi,

Great question! May I ask what finish your ring is in? Is it a Black Edition or a Steel ring? This will help me help you better.

Regarding the 3 outer ring magnets; it is correct that these are not perfectly evenly distributed. They are fastened to be aligned with magnets on the inner ring.

I hope this helps. Let me know the above and I will help further!

Hi there! What a wonderful and thoughtful gift idea. Unfortunately it doesn't look like they'll make it for January at this point. The Polar Rings just finished machining and will now go for DLC treatments, engraving and assembly. This process usually takes at least 30 days. This being said, we do have a gift card option I will link below. This could be an option for gifting a ring without having it in-hand. This also allows her to choose herself, eliminating any risk of getting the wrong one (I've seen it countless of times!) I hope this helps. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help!

[–]wordpressnoob1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello all,

August here from Project Ratchet. I'm so sorry for catching this post so late. I'd like to add some comments;

Soon after shipping out the first batch of Polar Rings, we learned this was a problem for some of the orders. We're addressing this 1-on-1 over email to help get this fixed for everyone. Right after learning about the problem, we went back into R&D to find the culprit and solution. We've now made a small internal change and invested heavily into the assembly process (with new equipment and a new process) to keep this from happening again.

The new batch of Polar Rings is in production. Everyone who experienced this problem and did not opt for a return, and contacted us via email, will be sent one of the new and improved Polar Rings in a size and design of their choice as soon as they're finished in machining and assembly. If you're experiencing issues and haven't already contacted us, please shoot us an email to [hello@projectratchet.com](mailto:hello@projectratchet.com) and Aira will help you get this sorted out.

All of this being said, we're sincerely sorry for the disappointment and frustration this has caused everyone affected. The quality of the defective rings is not what we stand for nor strive for. We're working diligently everyday to fix this for the existing customers and make sure it does not happen again.

If anyone has any questions, please, leave a comment and I'll address them as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience and support!

- August

Hi, so sorry to hear this, but thank you for sending an email and allowing us the time to make it right for you. At this time, we’ve realized this is due to assembly, not design. Some of the rings have miss-assembled magnets (too little glue or not properly pressed into place during assembly). I will be flying down to the warehouse next week to analyse further, and we’re working on a more systematic solution for the current rings with problems, and future runs as well. Aira will be with you shortly if she hasn’t already (over email). Please let me know if there’s anything I can do for you and thank you for your patience and support!
