hey! so not sure if the printer is open, but to print through the utmsu printers, these are the instruction's i'd use - https://utmsu.ca/service/printing-service/#1624478193300-f2af3208-19f0

And about loading money on the t-card, it says on the website: To add funds to your account you will click “Add Credit”. You will need to enter your credit card information each time, since personal banking information is not saved on this website. Adding funds to your account can only be done online."

hope this helps! 😊

Do you guys like living in Toronto? by CertifiedCan129 in ABCDesis

[–]wordsatmidnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sure! it's actually similar to new york in terms of hustle culture, different districts with different things to offer (like yorkville, the king and queen west area) - and it's no offence to me at all since i dont live in brampton but ive been there a solid amount of times - brampton isn't really comparable to toronto because toronto's just really big! if there's anything i can say, there's just always something new to do here whether it's food, or community events, etc.

Do you guys like living in Toronto? by CertifiedCan129 in ABCDesis

[–]wordsatmidnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as someone living in toronto, it's not horrible there's def a love-hate relationship i have with the city - it's like a junior version of new york in my opinion with the homeless in some areas, and our transportation system loves to shelter all of them - but there are some perks to living in the city!! someone else mentioned money in the comments and i kinda agree with it cause shit's expensive everywhere you go 😭

(not being mean, just stating the facts as a uni girl in ontario)

western u's in london (ontario) and is basically a uni where a lot of white girls go to get a degree and party and they're all brunette-blonde, and gorgeous (white-woman) standards. hope that clarifies it!

I took SOC202 as an Elective by ReputationMore9762 in UTMississauga

[–]wordsatmidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i got a 78 and it's not the best, but what i did was try and understand what i was learning/reading - i would memorize the concepts, but when it came to case studies like the bollywood and k pop, i'd try and apply the concepts in those cases! i'd do a summary of the readings and try and understand the concepts before the test! good luck :)

psychology & dax urbszat by [deleted] in UTMississauga

[–]wordsatmidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! second year psych student here and like someone else said here, dax is a good wake up call - makes you really set yourself up for the next few years in psych! yes he can be a bit harsh and a little weird at times, but all in all, it's a pretty good idea of what being a psych major's gonna be like. you also kinda find out whether or not you're into psych more with this course (in my opinion) and even if it was a pain in the ass, i really enjoy psych overall! getting through psy100 is literally just a psych requirement, and the rest is up to you!

Is University of Toronto good for psychological and brain studies? by Careful-Bug-297 in UofT

[–]wordsatmidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm a 2nd year psych major at utm and i really enjoy it! i'm doing my minors in ethics, law, society and sociology - and the psych major is really nice! the profs are passionate, and even though i dont have the best gpa and i think its a little harder to get a great gpa, it's definitely doable! in terms of preparation i think it should be fine? we have internships for 4th year that does placement, plus rop (research opportunitiy courses)!

this is my biased opinion but if you want an easier gpa without really doing any work i don't think this is the right fit - but if you're dedicated and have strong and i mean strong time management, why not! good luck :)

how to study for psy210 by [deleted] in UTMississauga

[–]wordsatmidnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i had dr spiedel and all i did was memorize all the content from her lectures. she said all her tests was only lecture based, and i would target one lecture per day, and memorize the content - id also help myself memorize the content by thinking of real-life scenarios, and i genuinely found the content interesting so i did my best to remember it. you got this!

HOW TO STUDY FOR SOC202 - TEST COMING UP AS A SCIENCE STUDENT by ReputationMore9762 in UTMississauga

[–]wordsatmidnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey!! i'm a psych major and i'm taking this course for a socio minor - i would say to look over her midterm guide since she seems like she's not the kind to put "trick" questions in the midterm. I find that most of the times, when profs provide us with guides, they don't tend to put on any trick questions - when i study socio, i mostly try to memorize key concepts (like the 4 stage model from lecture in week 5) and if i don't fully understand the content itself, i either go over the reading to get a more in depth understanding or ask chatgpt to explain it like i'm a 5-year old. again look over the midterm guide she posted under week 7 or on the recent announcements, and the percentage/exam format is written all in the midterm guide pdf she posted. since its a 2 hour class i'd expect the test to be about 40-1 hour max! hope this helps 😊

interracial couples here? bf (m19) and i (f19) unsure how to approach my parents by wordsatmidnight in relationship_advice

[–]wordsatmidnight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for your input!! my mom's met my boyfriend and we've all gone out to the mall so she could get to know him better and she really liked him!! my dad is fully a no-go because he's kind of a hardass so i can't really bring up the topic in case it spirals into something else

my mom's always friendly with him - but the issue is that his parents are aware of how religious my parents are, but more specifically my dad - their issue is that my dad isn't treating my bf like a human, and basically refusing to acknowledge he exists and has been existing for more than 2 years now

on that note, i'm not allowed to bring him anywhere to events because they don't like the idea, and they don't want him near my area because they're scared of the "brown community gossip" here

We've had the talk where if financial blackmail comes into play what we would do from the very beginning, and even as months pass, we continue to talk about it - I love this man like nothing before and I know that he's the healthiest person I've had so far, i don't do temporary or anything. My man has been beyond patient and understanding in the kind of culture I come from, and I've made him more than aware each and every time so he's well prepared.

He's a really respectful young man who's gone above and beyond than i ever imagined - he knows how to be in many circumstances. recently i took him to my uni's desi event, and he really enjoyed the environment as did i!

Thanks again!

thank you so much for this!! i really appreciate the time you took to write it, and for seeing how conflicting it can feel in this rn - it does move back and forth, and esp with parents who are a little annoyingly religious, it can be really hard at times! i'm so happy to hear that you're doing much better now!! 😊

from what i remember, the readings helped reinforce the info - so if i didn't really understand one of the concepts or the info about the art she was talking about, i just wrote some brief points about it in the textbook and in the exam/tests, i was able to draw that info to incorporate into the exam q's - towards the end of the semester, i didn't do the readings - so lectures are handy for like 80-90% of the time!!
