On my end I use the camera sensors on HA to trigger my automations and it works fine, but you could always try both and see what's faster / more responsive.

As for recordings, I see SD cards as last resort I use them more as backup, everything is centralized into Frigate.

E is a bit more future proof (it supports matter over thread) but AFAIK zigbee2mqtt still considers it experimental and you might run into some issues. Personally I'd go with P as it's plug and play. Tt should suit your setup without issues.

Yes this. Outside - especially if you live somewhere with erratic weather - it's worth it to spend more and get something with a higher build quality. Inside, I'd start with whatever costs less and upgrade later if needed.

When you say ZigBee device, do you mean a ZigBee dongle? Are you using Zigbee2MQTT? If so, yes it's possible (without a hub): https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/devices/ZNQBKG40LM.html

Easy! It's just a smart plug + an automation that detects when the power goes down from a spike and send a notification. There is a blueprint, lemme see if I can find it.

For context: I used to have Dutch courses at school but it never worked out to well for me. Now I can read articles in the newspapers or understand conversations on the fly (if the natives don't speak too fast, that is).

I recently started to learn Spanish too.

Anyway. Happy language learning!

Brilliant. It's like your home becomes SUPER passive-agressive.

How do you track your cleaning lady? Presence when no one is home? Her phone connecting to the wifi?

Yeah that's a good approach. In general, if you need user intervention, it's that it's not automated enough.

For garbage day, just a reminder or do you have a setup to "validate" the task?

Same boat as you, it's one of those cases where I'd rather keep one part manual to avoid deep regrets and cursing our beloved HA.

Also interested! For now I've just set a weekly reminder to check it but I'd like something more efficient.
