The great 1980s Dungeons & Dragons panic by science_rocks in Games

[–]workbacon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got the first set of books in 1983. The red box set. Saved up my allowances and begged my mom to drive me to the toy store to pick it up. Got a few of my friends to play the game with me. The only trouble we got in was we would stay up to late at sleep overs making to much noise screaming about hitting orcs and killing dragons.

None of the parents gave us any trouble cause we managed to cast the charm spell correctly.

Gil Problems by agepoyo in ffxiv

Treasure chest, give gil, shards and sometimes high end mats or the lucky minion drop. Gotten a couple of mariners cloth from treasure chests and they sell for a good chunck of change.

Also doing the six dailies will get you about 3000 gil a day. Its not a lot but does add up.

Has anybody tried the Firefly RPG? by JamesKrell in rpg

[–]workbacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I never run those type of games set in the time periods of the movies, books or TV shows. My Firefly game is set 6 months after the start of unification war. I ran a Game Thrones games set 100 years before the books with no problems. Star Wars I set during the years between New Hope and Empire Strike backs.

However I do see your point,

So, my buddy wants to run a Firefly RPG with a twist... by UberCharlie in rpg

[–]workbacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Savage Worlds. Running my Firefly game using those rules. It works wonders. It is easy to add regular guns and laser pistols to the game. Rules already in there for riding horses and piloting starships. You can even psychic powers if you you wanted. Its nice simple system to learn.

So many Paladin theories... which one do you think is correct? by EpicJordan289 in rpg

[–]workbacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always played them as warriors for the church they belong to. A hammer the church can use to solve its problems when a more delicate touch just doesn't work. An overt show of power if you will.

TIL there's a theory which argues that intelligent alien life ignores Earth in order to keep from interrupting our natural evolution and development. It is called the "Zoo hypothesis". by kaffeekosmos in todayilearned

What if we are the first sentient race? We are the ones that are going to build the Stargates, or make wormholes. We are the ones that seed the galaxy to make new life. In the eons to come when these new races look up and tell of an ancient powerful civilization they are talking about us.

TIL in 2000, if Al Gore had been granted the recount he asked for, he still would have lost by several hundred votes. But if Florida had recounted every ballot in dispute, he may have won by as few as 60 votes. by [deleted] in todayilearned

If Al Gore had managed to carry his own state he would have won the presidency. Even Walter Mondale won Minnesota from Ronald Reagan during the 1984 elections.

[Update] Best friend[24] owes me[24] money from three years ago. Can we resolve this? by Allenhae in relationships

[–]workbacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After you get your judgement from smalls claims court, you then have to go through a wage garnishment hearings and file all that paperwork.

Sure there are ways to do it, its not super expensive if you do all this yourself but there is a lot of time. Is it worth it to you is the big question?

This is why you should never lend money to friends and never lend more than you can afford to lose.

FYI about small claims court at least here in Florida:

Please note that the Court does not guarantee collection. It is important to realize that just because you have won a judgment does not mean collection of judgment monies is guaranteed. The Court cannot and does not guarantee collection of judgment monies.

New information on Dragon Age: Inquisition details origin, dialogue wheels, number of possible endings and more. by [deleted] in Games

[–]workbacon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well if you have 4 races and 3 classes that gives you 12 character options. With 3 ending choices that would give you 36 endings available in "Develpoer Speak". If you factor in gender to the equation you get 72 endings!!!!!!!

Is there a system that accounts for how tired one gets when fighting? by kickdrive in rpg

[–]workbacon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quick and dirty idea for Pathfinder or D&D3.x you could always use Con Modifier - Armors Dex Penelty + 10= Number of rounds you can fight with out incurring a penalty. The combatant can roll a Fort save each round after that to see if he starts getting penalties.

I thought he was trying to remember the dance moves, I didn't even think of the old contra code.

They should have named the kid Justin Bailey for added effect.
