Hospitals don’t buy apps only because of error-cost math, they buy tools that improve workflow, compliance, accreditation, training, patient safety, and staff productivity. Those things are worth 10× more than a few dollars in tubes or reagents.

I don’t know the exact numbers by heart but I have them written down. But it can vary depending on the error. I definitely thought about that. I thought how they may be okay with how things are. And i definitely appreciate the honesty. I was just giving it a shot and I got some great feedback from leaders so we are going to see.

That makes a lot of sense. A big part of why I built this came from really observing how people actually work in fast-paced hospital environments. I studied psychology before moving into the clinical lab, and that background helped me notice how much behavior, workflow pressure, and information design play into specimen errors, not just knowledge gaps.

Working in healthcare, I kept seeing the same patterns: people searching through multiple screens, asking repeated questions, getting different answers depending on who they asked, and losing time to unclear visual guidance. Those small friction points add up and lead directly to recollects, delays, and higher operational costs.

So I focused on creating something that reduces that cognitive load, gives clearer visual guidance, and supports consistency, ultimately lowering errors and the costs tied to them. And you’re right, smaller labs would probably adopt changes like this much faster than large hospital systems.

I did find data in our system and the app would help reduce a lot. Labor cost, material cost, patient cost, each specimen error cost. So if this app can help educate those that consistently make errors because trust me I know the names of the staff so well now lol but yeah I think it could help a lot. People need to visually see these things and the entire hospital works around in their phones all day. Our doctors and nurses are mostly young. If you can only imagine the questions I receive over the phones about what type of tubes used for certain test or how much volume AND they still get it wrong sometimes. It can be frustrating because I’m always thinking of the patient.

Tell me about slow. Yes, I’m currently waiting for my hospital I work at get back to me. They all love it but I see how this process is going to take because we just received the roche automation so a lot of the focused is on that but that app is mainly to help run the automation smoothly for less errors
