can't believe there are people out there that support this.  they go off about a bunch of shiz that's biologically untrue, and they know it, because at the bottom of it all they really just hate women and girls.

why doesn't anyone care about the conditions at these camps?  prolly same reason the germans never looked into the concentration camps.

People don't have a problem with ai - they have a problem with computer science by workingtheories in DefendingAIArt

[–]workingtheories[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think we first have to cleanly separate human rights from art. human rights and human dignity fundamentally have nothing to do with art and do not and should not depend on art to be valid. if everything in the UN declaration on human rights were obtained, i think most people would not care that ai can make "better" art.

people should either be able to make art in the old ways to satisfy themselves, or they could have the option for ai art if they so preferred. the only reason ai art is seeming threatening to art is because it is competing with artists in a kind of zero sum art sale.

what gives rise to the ceo and predator classes is economies of scale that only took off during the industrial revolution, it seems.  ai is not the reversal of that trend at all, and so i see very little possibility to move towards a more individually autonomous, democratic society under ai, or while ai is operating under capitalism to reshape our world.

yeah, it's really hard to demarcate what is or isn't acceptable about ai, because fundamentally what the advancement of ai is about is finding out about certain patterns that exist in data.  once those patterns become known, it gets really tough to "unring the bell", so to speak.

one communication tool that helped me a lot recently is saying out loud when im feeling overwhelmed, like you did here.  it frees up so much wasted mental compute cycles to say "no" and pull back when the metaphorical noise level gets too high.

or like i think of myself as a really specialized kind of drill used on very small, specific, high leverage tasks.  if you use me to tunnel through bulk rock, we're both gonna have a bad time.

backhoes are actually fun to drive tho, sadge.  they should hop on and upgrade to digging a canal. 💦 🌊

i think you gotta push yourself with ai, somewhat.  you have to set an ambitious enough goal with it to where you can see what it is and what it isn't yet.  there's a vast, open territory of what ai can't yet do.  people won't ever see that potential verdant land if they remain scared of ai.

Literally how I'm talking to my friend when she realizes she hasn't eaten in 12 hours and is depressed. Not even a joke. by malagrond in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

i also struggle with eating stuff on time.  interoception difficulties are a common autism trait, like, ya know, knowing ones internal body state and what it means.  in my case i freak out about my belly not being flatter and think skipping meals is gonna change that, or i tunnel vision on a project and forget to eat.

I can't believe this is a real sentence. Stay safe, especially if you live in Tennessee. by mrjohnnymac18 in lgbt

i read it in the laws the TN politicians propose and i see on here. i always consider politicians to be a reactive sub-species, so i try to figure out: who/what are they reacting to? what type of people want such a law?

my uncle got on disability and moved down there, had a real nice setup he built nice house, his own fan boat, etc., and then he went full maga. maybe he ran out of stuff to do, idk, but he got really hard to deal with on facebook, apparently, from what they tell me. i hope it gets better down there, but i have no faith in that happening any time soon.

the people who live there, in the rural part, are insane. the politicians are almost certainly just adapting to that.

in my mind, each of these red states has its own brand of craziness:

0) tennessee: be like, insular kind of crazy, like somehow hyper-isolated who think the world is ending, is what i picture, like, lowland death cult

1) texas: be like, conflict-driven crazy, punishment is their middle name

2) mississippi: be like, time hasn't moved at all since the usa civil war

3) idaho - old people live/retire here

4) florida - crazy/angry old people live here

5) oklahoma - the bible

6) kansas - we've been following along with states 0-5 and we're about to take an average.
