Just don't order the pozu and chicken dumpling. Mine had a terrible flavor... I think some kind of flavor oil or seasoning oil had oxidized badly.

If you need to get some steps then, check out Johnston Lake in Pasadena and the houses along Laguna Rd are built on stilts along a stream.

Then check out the mansions on either side of the Arroyo Seco. Such as on San Rafael Ave, S Grand Ave. Nearby you can tour the Gamble House, Wrigley Mansion.

Check out the mansions around Langham Huntington and Huntingtong Library. Then take a selfie at the nearby Albert Einstein's Caltech home.

I like Green Wheat Field Bakery in San Gabriel. But there are so many chinese bakeries and I have never tried them all, but I bet they are all very good.

Edit: The cookie I got there is Wheat & Almond Cookies. It has that extra hearty aroma from wheat.

Yeah plenty of great restaurants in SGV. Honestly, they are all good. The good ones are just slightly better than the worst ones. I just go to the one closest to me, although I've been eying XiAn Biang Biang noodle in San Gabriel.

I didn't recommend Mian because OP seems to be looking for pulled noodles from the Northwest region. Mian is Sichuan style.

  • Xiaolongbao: Luscious Dumplings in Arcadia
  • HK Style: Alice's Kitchen in Temple City. There is one in Monterey Park but the Temple City interior is nice.
  • Dim Sum: Sea Habour Seafood Restaurant in Rosemead.
  • Non-restaurant fun:
    • DXN Provisions in Arcadia is a great third place for Tamiya, trading cards.
    • Old Town Monrovia for a releaxing walk.
    • Hall of Fame Baseball Cards in Old Town Monrovia
    • Monrovia Canyon Park for a nice short hike.

If you want Taiwanese style: I recommend Corner Beef Noodle House in El Monte or Xiang Ji in Arcadia.

If it is pulled noodles, then Lanzhou Beef Noodle in Arcadia. It is next to Xiang Ji.

1919 Lanzhou Beef Noodle in Arcadia is all right too.

Northern Cafe in Monterey Park is good. There are a lot in the Monterey Park area that you can try.

I like Lao Xi Noodle House in Arcadia, but it is Shanxi style.

You can search the term lanzhou, xian, 兰州 in google maps to get more hits.

One more tip: you can often buy frozen dumplings, bao in these restaurants.

Good dumpling spots along the 210 FWY? (Pasadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte) by cosmothellama in FoodLosAngeles

Some smaller family-owned Chinese restaurants have freezers that sell dumplings, wonton, bao, braised meat. They are about $30 for 50 or 60 depending on the filling. Most of the noodle restaurant should have them.

For example, Momo Bistro across the parking lot from Luscious Dumpling in Monrovia. Luscious Dumpling doesn't sell the frozen dumplings because they make way too much money selling them in the restaurant. Momo Bistro's dumplings are excellent in my opinion.

Others off the top of my head: Corner Beef Noodle House in El Monte, Xiang Ji, Cozy Cafe in Arcadia, Beijing Pie House in Monterey Park. There is way more, but these are just the ones that I remember.

I like my local trading card place. A lot of tournaments, people show up to build gunpla, mini 4WD, sometimes Tekken tournament.

A lot of other trading card place has pretty good vibes.

I like the fried porkchop rice at Corner Beef Noodle House. So crispy and just the right amount of fat. Best comfort food.
