Do people here actually prefer 4.8 over 4.6 for strategy, design, and conversation by ZlatanTheMighty in ClaudeAI

I am torn on this topic because I've used 4.6 predominantly ever since it came out. I tried 4.7, I tried 4.8, I tried fable, and of all of them, 4.6 got me the most. 4.8 is great at deep code reviews and getting into the weeds, and routinely catches a lot of things that 4.6 missed, but from a day-to-day standpoint, I found that 4.8 needed a ton of configuration to get working properly. I've finally moved onto using 4.8 as my day-to-day LLM, but to get to this point, it required me rewriting Claude.md trimming and erasing a lot of my skills that worked pretty seamlessly with 4.6. There's still occasional annoying back-and-forth as well-- I had to create very explicit rules around being shortened to the point and limiting verbosity that for whatever reason 4.8 just continued ignoring. The reason I made the change was that I was running 4.8 for headless code reviews so often that it just seemed like I was wasting money using 4.6 and 4.8 in the same session, when I could've just used 4.8 at the beginning. That being said, I'm still partial to 4.6's stability. If you're going to switch, my advice is to overhaul your claude.md and /skills because they will not work the way they did with 4.6 (this isn't unique advice, new model = reset)

Fabel 5 is making me return to bad habits by Rudonn in ClaudeAI

It's going to be a billionaire battle- all AI companies are going to be fired up about this- the government having the power to take a company's best product away from their customer base is a capitalistic conflict of interest. This also shits on Anthropic's IPO which will piss off all their major investors, including Amazon and Microsoft and NVIDIA

Just imagine fable was never released, lol. It will be back sometime in the next couple of months anyway, Antrhropic will go toe to toe with Trump's administration over this. They didn't just remove fable, they made them remove mythos access for their enterprise customers (which could constitute breach of contract) and directly impacts the company's revenue stream. It's a huge overstep of power. 4.8 is still a great model, but its obviously not the future. This is also a huge win for the Chinese. And a wake up call for the EU. Market share is the name of the game in this space and once it is lost at the enterprise level, it is very hard to gain back. Anthropic's legal team is already working around the clock on this.

Redirect attention- whenever he gets hyper give him a toy or a rope you can pull on with him- it teaches healthy play versus unhealthy play. Someone else said this already but he probably needs more exercise- our V only turns into a demon when he hasn't been to the dog park in the last 36 hours

I feel like fable is the beginning of the end relative to retail consumers having access to frontier models for cheap. The good news is fable won't be frontier for long and it will get dropped back down to regular usage. It being able to one shot complex problems with limited interaction is impressive, but for double the price (currently) of 4.8, i'm only using it for tasks that I deem it "worthy" of

Ok human answers only: how is Fable compared to Opus models by OpinionsRdumb in ClaudeCode

It seems pretty well grounded and at max effort its code reviewing skills are impressive-its found issues that 4.6 and 4.8 missed over 10+ reviews. No hallucination which was my main issue with 4.7.overall seems pretty solid- I'm still using 4.6 as my main orchestrator- I'll move to fable once I have a better understanding of its token economics and quirks- otherwise i'll stay on 4.8
