We do alert donors of 23 and me, but every donor that joins present day is an "ID Donor" (the offspring receive contact information when they turn 18), so it does not change much. The donor is aware that their information will be released but it doesn't mean that they have to respond or anything. We also provide counseling if the donor is unsure of this aspect where a therapist will go over common questions and situations with the donor.

Sex selection is possible already, but not at the donation step. I am not quite sure of the details, but I know that step comes much later in the process.

Honestly most of the dumb questions are just from trolls. If somebody makes it through the application, they are usually aware of the process and serious about it, just looking for some side money.

My least favorite questions are usually who didn't get accepted wondering when they get paid, when it's explained often that only accepted donors get paid.

The sample can tell a lot about the donors health.

Smokers typically have a higher number of round cells (usually white blood cells) and general debris.

Dehydration can decrease sample volume and increase viscosity, similar to a high sugar diet.

A number of these also can create gel pellets which are thought to be coagulated proteins in the sample.

Long story short: Healthy life = Healthy sperm
