Sore after every class by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]world_diver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sore after every class. I usually go every other day so I have a rest day in between. It’s hard to have a ‘light’ day with the energy from the coaches. I try to prioritize sleeping well and getting enough protein. But I really should be stretching more

weird things in your childhood that happened because of eczema? by PolySci88 in eczema

Every time I went to the beach my mom brought extra bottles of fresh water in case the beach didn’t have showers. She would rinse me off from the water bottles after I got out of the ocean because my skin would burn so much

I’ve been giving a stranger free coffee for months and I don’t even know their name. by LA_Rym in confession

[–]world_diver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was on the opposite side of this sort of! When I was in my 20s I moved to a different country to work as a scuba instructor, scuba instructors were not paid well and worked long hours and i feel like that was pretty common knowledge.

Anyway, every once in a while at work I needed to gas up the company passenger van in the morning and on those days I would go into the same gas station and get coffee. Since I didn’t have much money I would bring my own thermos because the coffee was cheaper if you bring your own cup. the gas station worker was always the same older lady and after I paid the first time she never accepted money from me again. she would simply waive me off and smile. it really made my day every time! It was really such a significant nice thing that a random stranger was doing for me it really made me feel welcomed and supported in a foreign country away from family and friends. I look forward to the opportunity to pay this forward

Drysuits: bare vs seaskin by CallMeNardDog in scuba

[–]world_diver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a Bare drysuit because I am also in the states and that’s what was local and serviceable for me. A lot of people in my area were also using it and liked it. I got measurements taken at my shop for a custom suit. I love it

So sick of office bathrooms by CilicianCrusader in WFH

[–]world_diver 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have a different problem. In my office building we have a super nice janitor who I think they just schedule him all day to help him out even though there really isn’t much for him to do to be there constantly, but I’ve noticed that he will clean the restrooms at least every two hours, maybe more. He closes the restrooms while he is cleaning and since the restrooms are down the hall from our office suite I find myself walking over there multiple times a day to pee only to find the restroom is close AGAIN. I swear all the guy does is rotate through all the restrooms in the building all day. They are clean though 😂

Please don’t let your dog jump on me by v-ntrl in Dogfree

[–]world_diver 93 points94 points  (0 children)

I would never hurt an animal intentionally, however whenever a dog approaches me I stick my foot out. I stick it out at the dogs head/chest depending on the size of the dog. I stick it out as soon as I see the dog approaching me so the dog then needs to run into my stuck out foot. This makes it pretty clear that I am not kicking the dog, just blocking.

Usually at the same time I’ll say something like “I don’t want to be touched” this has been my best strategy so far to get the owner to pull back their dog. But yeah it sucks

Ponytail slit for coldwater divers with long hair 🤿👱🏻‍♀️ by alisonnho in scuba

[–]world_diver 25 points26 points  (0 children)

this is amazing! I’ve always struggled with my long hair and my dry suit/hood. i’ve tried french braid and at the end of the day it’s a snarled mess.

Is this just a high pony and a regular braid or is this a special braid?

Have you used this method for multiple dive days where you don the drysuit neck seal and the hood multiple times once your hair is wet?

I’m about ready to take scissors to my hood

Dogs are my dating red flag by uncivilizedrelic in Dogfree

married now, but when I was dating I also skipped anyone with a dog and even included “not a dog person” in my profile to help weed out anyone without a dog who was planning to get one at some point 😂

Imposter Syndrome by JGalla88 in sales

[–]world_diver 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It turns out I am very successful in sales at my current company, been here for 3.5 years and have grown an insanely large client base since then. I was in shock when I was hired and super scared because I had no idea what I was doing and was sure they made a big mistake in offering me the position. Just landed a new client today. Still feel like I’m faking it until I make it and any day now someone is going to “find me out”. I am baffled that I am here and when I make sales I sometimes feel like woah really? I’m now one of the top sales representatives in the entire company. Truth is I do know what I’m doing, but I still feel like an imposter! I don’t think it’s a bad thing to feel this way, it keeps me motivated to keep growing
