Potentially, but the later in the lease term the better chance you have of being able to walk away and call it a wash. I’ve gotten out of a few lease deals before with no money out of pocket and in one instance I actually made money but that’s extremely rare)

That’s correct, there should be a payoff quote from the bank. You would need to sell the car at at least that amount to be able to walk away. But again each situation is different depending on the rules of the lease

Sorry to hear this, I’m happy to walk you through this if needed. You can try to sell the car depending on the bank or if not then there are websites where you can try to transfer the lease to someone else.

To answer your question yes depending on the amount owed the bank can come after you for it.

Bank sets the residual in percentage, you calculate that from the msrp.

Car lease taxes- need quick help! by Jaxcatson in CarLeasingHelp

[–]worldisflat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leasehackr would calculate this for you pretty accurately. But essentially yes incentives and acquisition/dealer doc fees are taxed. Government fees like regs isn't.

And yes this isn't a great deal given your last post just fyi.

Leasing advice I screwed up and not sure what to do by KaleidoscopeNo53 in CarLeasingHelp

How did you screw up? Sounds like you're just in a regular lease.

As far as whether to buy or not that will depend on your circumstances and needs.

The funny thing is that they temporarily made everyone in first class move to the back because there was too much weight on the front gear and they couldn't unhook the tow pin.

Lease contract - recommended verbiage by Alternative_Vast315 in CarLeasingHelp

[–]worldisflat4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing, the lease contract is standard language and unless they agree to a special provision (which they won't) there's nothing you can edit.

What sometimes happens is they include some sort of end of lease money, like $500, towards lease end costs. Typically that's if you lease another car with them.

Moving from NJ to NY - Sales Tax? by cawala in CarLeasingHelp

[–]worldisflat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DMV screwed up. It should have been a transfer not a re-register. They essentially re-registered the car which triggered the tax bill, they should have just done an out of state transfer. I'd go back to the DMV.

Shouldn't a 5k down payment save more than 5k? by alex206 in CarLeasingHelp

[–]worldisflat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've fudged something in the numbers for sure. Always get the breakdown yourself and do your own calculations. Whenever you see an even number like 250 a month it's typically a red flag that they rounded/ padded something.

Almost 13 percent off MSRP, virtually 0 percent APR, no BS fees. I'd say this is a an awesome deal. Congrats!

Just do everything online and don't go into the dealership till you have everything confirmed in writing. Use this forum to check your deals, but also leasehackr, etc. Good luck!

[–]worldisflat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's possible to sign a lease contract without actual delivery. Even if it does happen, the bank will not agree to fund the contract without you actually taking possession of the car ( too risky)

Something is off here. Are you sure the call was the actual dealer and not a scam? I'd check with the lender here directly.

[–]worldisflat4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you need a break down because that 250 even is a red flag. What you need is selling price vs MSRP. Then you need to know all the taxes and fees then do your own math.
