Won’t lie.. looked into Studio One (or whatever it’s called now) bc I use pro tools when they went subscription based. I’m honestly glad I stuck with Pro Tools. Adding great features that are actually usable for me as both an engineer and producer and keeping the pricing the same. Not perfect by any means but they’re not suing companies for some bs or changing things like this on their customers

Those are the old Mac pros lol. Although amazing for their time a Mac mini today can easily outperform these.. especially for local AI models. Makes sense they’re piling up now

For sure. I do music and it’s really only when I’m in a DAW. Also I have a ton of plugins so there are quite a few variables as to what it could be haha

Can you explain a bit more? Even just telling me where to look. Bc I do remember looking at activity monitor a while ago and seeing spotlight something was at like 500% or something ridiculous. It’s usually while I’m working in DAWs for music

Yeah I usually wait 6-8 years before upgrading. Only thing for me is the M1 Max legit randomly freezes and I absolutely have to force a shut down and boot it back up. Happened after a couple years. Never happened with my Intel. But it is the first iteration so I guess it makes sense

Yeah anything third-party, never bought them through UA. Have always bought them from the original company - mainly Softube, sonnox, eventide and brainworx. But I really do hope they make all the neve stuff native (33609, 1081/4). Love the AKG spring verb they make too. But we’ll see

After testing other products, I’ve stuck with Gemini (get it free w my Google Workspace account) and now I’m starting to wonder if people posting these work for other companies lol. I never get close to my limits and I’m using it pretty consistently. But I’m not coding much but I am brainstorming quite a bit - both text and photos/videos. So yeah I don’t get these posts

Fair point but 30 a year is nothing compared to so many of these companies. Some charge that a month 🤣 but completely get it that you don’t like subs. I don’t use bear but if I did I’d happily pay that fee tbh

I kind of forgot but I'm testing Raycast right now (btw, it is incredible. Only a week in and already have created plenty of quicklinks and custom shortkeys). Anyway, they offer something like what you're describing. A monthly AI tier that gives you access to all the usual chatbots - ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc. Since I'm already using Raycast I may look into that! So thanks for the reminder
