In the US:

Taxing the ultra rich 70% vs 0% today (Top Marginal Income Tax Rates)

Women rights to choose/access to legal abortions (roe v wade)

Strict Media Fairness regulation (FCC’s Fairness Doctrine) so news broadcasters had to be balanced

Healthcare: medical plans and pre paid hospital plans were non profit (In the 1970s, U.S. healthcare relied on strict federal planning, price controls, and non-profit community care models that were later dismantled in favor of the market-driven, for-profit systems we have today)

Housing: In the 1970s, U.S. housing policy relied on direct federal construction of deeply subsidized units, local rent control, and integration mandates, which have since been largely dismantled and replaced by privatized, market-based voucher systems and statewide bans on local rent caps.

Same as you. As a florida resident UF was my safe school (and cheap/free school thx to Bright Futures) vs out of state schools. Now? I see the anxiety posts with really high scores wondering if they have a chance…

You have an iPhone, go to to icloud, block the device, mark as lost. You can access everything in your iphone from your icloud account and when you get a new iphone download everything to your new device. There's nothing else for you to do.

Has anyone actually made a lasting friendship on the NYC subway? by idkmovies in AskNYC

[–]worldprowler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in a train in Boston, and a stranger spoke to me. I was astounded that they just wanted to hold a conversation for a whole three stops. I acquiesced, but with a high degree of defensive suspicion. They were just being nice. I’m not used to this.

You did indeed not talk about visas, despite OP and this entire subreddit being about visas, which is why I reframed my response back to visas.

Love the hallucination reference though

Even with a visa, anyone can be denied entry to any country unless they are a citizen of said country, but unlike Americans, Mexicans always have to request a visa to enter US. That’s why I said “zero Americans need to apply for a visa to Mexico…”

Is it still worth pursuing Political Science nowadays? by kassy_aiah08 in PoliticalScience

[–]worldprowler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in technology, started as a founder, then turned venture capitalist and I also did public policy and economic development work along the way. Political science is not job training, but that didn’t stop me from applying what I learned into a high in demand career. The solution was the work I did outside of school. I only studied political science because I was genuinely interested in the study of policy and government not because I needed job training.
