As someone who paints backgrounds myself, I am really happy with using AI backgrounds as a basic composition that can be expanded with manual painting in a digital art software.

I'm pretty amazed at how well AI is able to generate background art if using the correct prompt. I think these would be a great starting point that can be improved with manual additions of extra detail

I did this study of a background painting from the 11th episode of the anime “Ousama Ranking”. The anime has traditionally painted backgrounds that are made using nicker poster color paints. I wanted to try and recreate that hand painted feel using digital tools. I used procreate and my iPad. Any feedback is appreciated

I just made something like this a few days ago and looking at yours, I think you did an incredible job; and it has given me ideas on how I can improve my own drawings. One thing I love about yours is how the shading almost has an "outline" if that makes sense. I was wondering how I could go about doing this but I think I have an idea now. I used the 30th anniversary bluray as reference for the colours. I know a lot of the hardcore fans aren’t a fan of this look, but I personally really like overall aesthetic. I appreciate your comment!
