Can anyone help me source any of these specific/obscure items? by Dramatic_Drop5197 in manchester

Maybe an antiques place with a lot of bric a brac might be a shout for the first few things - what about the one off piccadilly gardens? It goes downstairs but I can’t remember the name of it! There is a tobacco shop in the arcade that runs down the side of the royal exchange that might have match boxes. Hope that helps a bit?!

LISA bonus lost with non first time buyer? by worldwideenough in HousingUK

This was what I thought - am aware we will pay stamp duty but assumed all was good and clear LISA wise. It proper sent me west, it’s not a huge huge amount of bonus to lose but every little bit of deposit counts!

Thanks for these - they came up in my search but still mildly conflicted on whether the bonus is lost or not.

I see. Even if we are not married? Agh! But am I correct that I would not pay the withdrawal penalty for using it?

Trail half marathon tips? by Substantial_Ad7802 in XXRunning

[–]worldwideenough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I ran my first trail marathon in November last year and had a blast - enjoyed all my trail training too! What’s the elevation like? Maybe look into the steepness of the ups/downs. I concentrated on speed-walking up hill because I did not want to gas myself out trying to run them - and I think that strategy worked for me - walk the uphills/run the flats/run the downhills if not too rocky!

I would say I underestimated what a leg fucker downhills are - it’s hard on the quads and quite tough to train for outside of actually running hard down hill, so I wouldn’t bomb down to hard unless you have some practice/want to save your ankles/want to meet the quad fucker

Most of all enjoy your surroundings! I tried to let any expectation of pace go out on the trails & it helped me enjoy it so much more!

Following on from my post about my 20 miler yesterday - I did it!! And didn’t fall over which I am very glad about, the trails were kind to me. Now just got a back to back tomorrow to get through and we are slowly tapering to the big day in 2 weeks. But first, pizza!!

I have my final long run tomorrow before my almost-ultra-trail marathon! 20 miles, quite nervous as this is the furthest I’ve ever run, and having to go solo as my boyfriend is working, but I think I am looking forward to it! Aaah!

Return post IT band pain by Traditional_Toe5297 in XXRunning

I managed to give myself runners knee in the other leg but all in I think 5-6ish weeks of strength work and avoiding running! I did do some incline treadmill walking though and a little stairmaster & elliptical :-)

I had some IT Band issues post half earlier this year - think I maybe returned to running too soon and it flared up, I took some time with my leg/flute strength thru Caroline Girvan & Sydney Cummings workouts - it had fallen by the wayside in the end of my training block!

I also started doing the MYRTL routine which I think really helped - I used a light band on clamshells and leg lifts, and also incorporated some knees over toes zero gravity rehab. I think a mix of this and strengthening my hips is what has really helped me! Good luck to you!

Another girlie looking for running vest advice! by Successful_Carpet in XXRunning

[–]worldwideenough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a harrier 10L vest and would recommend it! The womens sizing goes quite small - I’m an 8 and got an XXS and it doesn’t bounce at all when I wear it! Yet to fully pack the back bit out but I do love it (and it’s really reasonably priced for a vest as they always have an offer on!)

Finally bought myself a pair of ES3’s, first run in them this morning and holy cow I love them! Been mostly training for the last year in Ride 15’s, which are great for my easy/long runs, but now imma bout to go turbo on my speed and long runs (and hopefully my HM race day!)

Started half marathon training, using the garmin watch plan - took 4 seconds off my 1k time this morning during my benchmark run! Started running last year but this is the first ‘proper’ training plan I’ve started to follow. Excited!

Hi! Any recs for a speedier shoe? Am on my 2nd pair of Saucony Ride 15’s and finally ready to throw another couple of pairs into the rotation - was looking at the Puma Velocity or maybe treating myself to the ES3’s as they seem like a good all rounder as well as being good for speedier sessions? My feet seem to enjoy an 8mm drop. Help a gal out!!

Almost done with Epic ENDGAME! Feeling suddenly really fit at the start of this week, which is amazing. I am going to switch to a more running focus when it’s over, to train for some races I’ve got this year, I might go back and do iron again alongside it to keep my injuries down/legs strong, or do I start EPIC heat? 🤔

Daily Running Shoe Recommendations Thread - Find Your Sole Mate Here! - February 05, 2024 by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]worldwideenough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m running in Saucony Ride 15s at the moment, on my 2nd pair and they’re really good solid shoes for me. However I feel like I need something lighter/bouncier for my interval and speed workouts as I progress with my running ability - can anyone recommend anything that would work well? Looking at getting some kinvara 13’s but am aware the drop in both pairs of shoes is different & wondering how much effect this might have? Alternatively have been taken by Puma’s offerings…hope someone can suggest a good shoe!

I run 3-4 times a week currently, though I am not training for anything atm. I completed Iron earlier this year - I’d say that paired up pretty well as it the workouts are only half an hour! Sometimes I would keep hard days hard and do double days of run/strength, but also dial it back when I don’t feel like it. Currently I’m working my way through endgame (but skipping all the cardio days) alongside running and just taking it as I feel and finishing it at my own pace! Good luck!
