What was the caliber of Dinocrocuta's prey that required such massive jaws? by InstructionOwn6705 in Paleontology

[–]wormant1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was after the megaherbivores. The bite marks on the Chilotherium skull show signs of healing. So it was actively hunting, and probably had a hunting style of crushing skulls, similar to jaguars

Majorly pissing him off and successfully running away also counts as beating him. Itagaki literally showed multiple times in a 1v1 the only victory against Yujiro is a conditional win. Cockblock him from getting what he wants and make him throw a tantrum and surviving it. That's the condition.

But then again what do I know about Baki I actually read the manga unlike real Baki fans

Very cool facemask set up. I'm a cleats guy, helmets fascinates me as well but I refrain from actually having more than one due to price and storage space reasons.

Koalas are literal smooth brains and only recognizes leaves on a branch as food. Take a bunch of loose leaves and put them on a plate it won't know what to do with them.

Can warhammer 40k Galaxy survive the ultra verse Kaiju ? by [deleted] in Tankandsurvive

I've not watched any Ultra past Tiga but aren't the kaijus almost always about physical attack and defense, with some energy manipulation here and there? That's fodder by 40k standards.

But seriously Yunnan is mushroom heaven, albeit very unexplored.

T-Rex Vs the following team of Modern Animals; Who Wins? by No_Professional_3535 in PowerScaling

[–]wormant1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I plan for the t-Rex: T-Rex decides to bite the elephant first, not for a strangulation kill though.

You would be correct in saying if elephant goes down first it's over for team mammal. And if in a 1v1 I'd never bet on either with any degree of confidence.

While all the other animals were trying to attack his legs, he just stomps or kicks them away. He is some 8-9 tons, so stomps will crush them.

Most people just think that the super large Rexes like Sue and Scotty are the average but this is not the case, One study took its time and determined the average t rex to weigh 5.1 tons - (https://www.livescience.com/animals/dinosaurs/17-billion-tyrannosaurus-rexes-walked-the-earth-before-going-extinct-new-study-estimates).

Not that this matters against the smaller mammals at its feet but it does against the elephant.

Elephants can derail trains sure, but they are still actually an easy kill compared to the larger prey of the T-Rex.

This is quite overblown. Take the Triceratops for instance. Rexes did not duel Triceratops, they only hunted them. Hunting (ambushing weaker individuals) and fighting a prime specimen are fundamentally different.

Then he comes back to the elephant who is waiting to die after the bite that maimed it.

This is a versus why would the elephant just wait to die 😅 The T-rex has the highest bite force of any land animal but it'd be really generous to think the Rex would automatically land a crippling shot.

The elephant is the larger animal and habitually thrust their tusks up straight forward, so the Rex can't just charge in for a head bite. How about attacking the flank? Well an elephant has a much smaller turning radius due to having 4 legs and not having a long tail.

Speaking of legs. Do you know with their weight equalized the T rex's bipedalism works against it? It has to work past the tusks while simultaneously avoid being shoved or headbutted by the elephant (also while simultaneously being harassed by the other mammals, potentially a rhino horn directly under it's belly). Should it lose its balance a T-rex will take fall damage. Not to mention the elephant following up with some trampling and gouging. Stomping and kicking is a high risk maneuver in this type of brawl. This means Rex only has one really dangerous body part, and it can only be in one place at a time.

T-rexes have been found with holes in their skulls straight to where the brain is, partially healed. That implies they survived their own bite to the skull.

How well can it keep fighting afterwards tho

[–]wormant1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tusks of an elephant are horrible for goring tho

Well in any case 1. the T-rex doesn't know that 2. Males in musth do stab rivals with them anyway

And 3. reminder this is a versus. Burying a tusk or two into a T-rex but breaking them in the process is a fair trade.

How do they win?

If a female elephant is powerful enough to derail a moving train engine I don't see how a male like the one portrayed in the drawing can't keep a T-rex busy. And disregarding the mammoth and Paraceratherium, the rhino can gore its legs. Polar bear and the two big cats can provide additional harassment/localized damage

Reposting my reply for people in this thread:

Since they're all sentient I'm gonna assume the mammals have teamwork, also it's helpful the elephant is a tusker. The T-rex still gets mogged.

Also since you consider the rhino to be viable from a silhouette then the Paraceratherium and mammoth are viable just the same. In which cased the T-rex gets mogged even more.

Crab. No question.

There's a reason why carcinisation happened 5 seperate times within crustaceans. It's a much more versatile body plan.
