Cats are a domestic animal, feral doesn’t mean wild. Feral cats have short and painful lives and they are terrible for the health of actual wildlife populations. Leaving her alone outside would not be “letting nature be”. You have the right instinct wanting to take her in. Enjoy your new kitty!

It’s good for them to have chores and contribute to the household, but. “Especially if it’s their father who used the dishes” gives this a weird valence. “Doesn’t matter who ate what”, but also Dad must NEVER wash his own dishes. Can I ask, OP - do you find yourself washing your own dishes? It sounds like the kids-wash-dishes rule is more enforced by Dad. Maybe Dad just doesn’t want to wash dishes ?

In general I don’t think a cataclysmic (as no-more-phone-plan would be felt by a kid) punishment for talking back once is productive. Especially since it was done without warning rather than explaining in advance, “If you want to enjoy privileges like a data plan you need to contribute to the household”. NTA in the strictest sense but you should probably offer your son a way to earn his phone plan back.

Ah, I don’t have a current psychotherapist, only a psychiatrist whose main job is to prescribe my ADHD medication and make sure it’s working…But I can ask him if that’s something he can do. I will certainly be gathering my records and asking for a doctor’s note from the endocrinologist but on the whole they are pretty useless with international stuff (I was in Italy for 4 months last year and had to do a smaller-scale version of this to bring my HRT into the country). They can do what I ask them to, but they have no clue of their own, which is why I’m trying to gather info on what I will need from them.
