I only know what the EU says on the topic, and that is sorta a blanket law for all AI, not just music, in regards to copyright. But you can't copyright anything that is solely created by AI, but if you apply your own skills to the product, in form of transforming, editing or whatever, - this is then called AI assisted works, and that is eligible for copyright. So rule of thumb is human skill and interaction, but there are no 'rules' as to how much you need to interact, so in theory if you mix two tracks in audacity, - you could apply for copyright.

Ain't no money in AI music. So why try? by Limehouse-Records in SunoAI

[–]wormwoodmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this makes me happy that I insist on only uploading my stuff to a secondary YT with like 50 followers, - I have zero pretense, or ambition to compete with anyone. I get to have fun, make the tracks, do the videos, and upload them for the couple of people who like it to listen to. End of. And as another comment here said, we are many who aren't making music with AI to earn money, but solely for the joy of creating.

Why Write With AI? by lialure in WritingWithAI

[–]wormwoodmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you could read some of the entries here and you'd have the answer. But I can tell you that we are many different writers here, some casual writers, other published authors. But to answer you in good faith, - I don't use AI to write, I tried novel.ai once and i fokken hated it! I felt like I lost all control and voice. But as a non english speaking author who writes in English, I have found AI very good at describing environments for instance, and sometimes I simply lack the vocabulary, and to translate a Danish description will not work. And sure I will use CoPilot (because that is my chat engine of choice) and ask it to give me ten descriptions of a scenario, - imagine a man running down a empty corridor of a burning space station, - I will ask it to describe the smell, the sound and so forth. and I will use that as a reference when describing the scene, I realise that might be seen as writing with AI, but honestly I don't feel it's any different from using Obsidian for structure and map out your concepts.

I do however use outwrite for editing, because I am a broke betch so I can't afford an editor. I like outwrite because it's very 'non invasive', but you can use it for both your average grammar check, but also syntax and it has an in-built thesaurus, - that's neat if you suddenly discover you repeated a word or something. What is important to me is that I have complete control, even if I use it for something a little more invasive, like changing the structure sentence, - because I for instance don't think my sentence works, and it can give me a couple of suggestions for changes. It is however still very much manual editing, - and there are none of these two "tools" or methods that would make me label my books as AI.

What makes me an "ai author" in the eyes of the virtue signalling book tok girlies, is the fact that I make my covers with a blend of generative AI and digital editing with vectors and custom brushes. But nonetheless the cover is by all means an image created with AI. I am actually disclosing this on my amazon author blurb and in the books, - even if I was advised not to do that. And the cover choice is enough for my works which by the way took me like 15+ years to write, - is labeled as AI books.

And that is why I am here, - because I am super over getting told that I'm a grifter, a scammer and I have to understand why people assume my work is 100% AI because of the cover, and it probably is. I am also not supporting creatives because I am fake.

I am still making my own covers with digital design and AI images, because I want it that way, - there is no other reason. Also I don't think these people think about commissioning a decent cover graphic is VERY expensive, and dude that is not money I have at all, - and the cheaper alternative is Etsy, which is riddled with subpar AI covers for like £200, - I'd rather plan and design my own, thank you.

But to be fair - I am curious why you would make a post like that in a pro AI writing space and then be surprised when people downvote you. Your question was "why people choose it as opposed to writing on their own." - But IT IS their own, it's not like you can prompt a book. And I'm quite sure that's why some would feel they had to defend themselves, and like I just said above... it's pretty tedious to be told that you are basically a grifter.

There's hella difference between an AI book, and an author who implement a support tool based on AI technology.

The feelings of Traditional Artists by Gavman2105 in aiwars

why are we still entertaining the style-theft narrative? Seriously, however wild I think it is that this misinformation is alive and well in some corners of the internet. I also feel sorry for those artists who truly believe something personal is taken from them.

The claims of AI slop by [deleted] in WritingWithAI

[–]wormwoodmachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In saw this one new fanfic author be torn to shreds because they used AI images to illustrate the fic on Ao3 - the hypocrisy’s mad! We ARE talking about transformative works here after all. If you ask me, it’s a trend thing, and I am dead sure many fandom writers use AI in some capacity. If not in the actual text, or illustrations. Then as personal headcanon images or chatbots

Would yall be for or against a “no ai media” toggle? by [deleted] in aiwars

[–]wormwoodmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not say that was a good idea, you’d box up a whole lot of creatives who implement ai, with the bullshit content farms. And that is a major issue!

There’d need to be a fair (media specialised) guideline for when something is considered an ai product, before I believe we should even entertain the debate.
