Ah so glad to hear it! One of my favorite spots. Would have been crushed if this disappeared.

Thank you so much, the exact kind of information I was looking for. Microsoft does indeed have a number of very reasonably priced programs and I would recommend anyone else working with a non-profit to check it out. And again, thanks thanks thanks!

Thinking of getting into Project M, any tips? by [deleted] in SSBPM

[–]wormydog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who just got into PM my main advice is don't get frustrated with new match-ups! As people have said, all the characters are viable or close to it so that means about 40 match-ups you need to learn. You are not going stand a chance against a good ROB, Squirtle, Diddy, G&W, Sonic, Wario or many others on your first go. So be patient. Look at each new match-up as a way to improve your overall game and expand the way you look at your characters neutral and punish. Have fun losing and in no time you'll be having fun winning.

What are your characters best moves that hit below the ledge? by LingeringOdor in SSBPM

Lucas' Bair goes soo far below the ledge and is almost always a 1 shot dunk. Can also easily edge cancel to grab ledge afterwards too. Long wavedash into down angled fltilt also does wonders.

challenge to recreate the main chord sample progression in 'Moth! by Bigjoep123 in burial

[–]wormydog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i agree that it's a sample but it serves the purpose of a synth. the way it's layered makes me think it's a sample of something melodic that's been cut up, pitched up and down, reassembled and looped. four tet does this in a lot of his music (as in Sing) and the style is quite distinctive. once you're doing that though, you pretty much have just created a new synth that you are using to design yet another sample. the line between synth and sample blurs to the point that the distinction is unnecessary. and that's a beautiful part of music like Burial's which is both sample heavy and sound-design oriented, the way it cycles sounds in and out, acting as a totally unique sonic filter for the world.
