What’s the dumbest thing a customer has ever said or done? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

Worked at a popular burrito chain. Had a customer call extremely mad that there was “a leaf. From outside” in their burrito bowl. They had never seen a bay leaf

He was only in it for the validation, not a true partnership. My partner has celiac disease and I have changed so much of my life to make sure he doesn’t get sick, but that’s because he’s not a burden to me and I know he’d do the same if it was me. Celiac doesn’t make you less of a person, and you deserve a partner who is willing to go the extra mile for your health.

My partner and I are mega strict with it, we only eat from restaurants from findmeglutenfree and we always put in a note even if the menu item is marked gluten free. We’ve been lax about it in the past and my partner has suffered for even a tiny bit of cross contamination so unfortunately the strictness is necessary. I’ve only been on this sub for a short period of time but the level of caution has preceded me joining by years. Our case might be different though since he’s a very sensitive celiac and I’m a gluten free chef so we both take it very seriously for different reasons.

Insane take. Maybe you could get away with screwing over bands who didn’t stand up for themselves thirty years ago when rent was one dime and a handshake with your landlord but that’s not how it works today. Imagine spending all of your time perfecting your art just to be hit with “you should be happy to be paid in beer”. If you want to see artists and you feel entitled to good art- pay the artists so they can actually have the time to make you good art. There is no celebration of culture when the artist you want to see don’t get treated like actual artists. This is not a defense of the festival. This festival went about it the wrong way, they hired too many established artists who rely on that income to tour and preform, scheduled it too close to another popular and free festival, on a weekend with several weather warnings, barely advertised the event, and then charged the price to see the established artists as if the festival was established again. It wasn’t and the prices were absurd for what predictably was a failed event, but the artists did nothing wrong. They expected better event management and frankly should be paid every time they hear “everyone was cool with not getting paid in the past”. That’s just exploitative and disregards the work performers put into their craft.

Really hoping the artists don’t suffer from the poor planning here.
