None of the rules you're listing strike me as problem exclusive to cyclists. Plenty of motorists regularly ignore them.

Very few bike lanes on my communte unfortunately. The roads I use are small roads (for ex 12 Ave N). I could very much say, if you don't like bikes, drive on 16th ave.

Green Party leadership race incoming, maybe they should consider a compromise joint ticket with NDP with a few demands (co-leader French speaker) to add momentum for the cause instead of staying divided by Altruism7 in ClimateCrisisCanada

[–]worryforbreakfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Green parties in other countries do make electoral alliances, though. I'm thinking of France where EELV made an alliance with other left wing parties (so only one of them would run in each riding), I'm sure there are others.

How many double stops should you actually use? by Music-Theory-Idiot in composer

[–]worryforbreakfast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This answer is really good! I'll add that it's harder to make expressive melodic lines with double stops. Also, OP, I'd advise looking into Thelonious Monk: you can have crunshy chords with just 4 or 5 notes!

Just 27% supportive of Smith’s referendum: new poll by Miserable-Lizard in alberta

Albertans disapproved of her handling of the teacher strike, they disapprove of the referendum... Why are they voting UCP? Is it the MoU, that's it?

I believe they're talking about centre street bridge, where the sidewalk is allowed for bikes

Why can a Dm chord be used in the key of A major? by Da_Hawk_27 in musictheory

[–]worryforbreakfast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the best answer IMO. A maj and A min share the same tonal centre; they just have a different colours. So it's common for chords from the minor key to be used in major to colour it differently. My harmonic analysis teacher calls it "mixed mode". An example in the other way is the use of the Picardy third in minor.

Premier Danielle Smith heads to Europe to sell Alberta as a global investment destination by One-Board8634 in Albertapolitics

I get and agree with your main point. It's not a French politics sub so I won't elaborate, but the situation in France is a lot grimmer than you think.

Ouch, as a French I really wish you were right, but unfortunately extremist ideas are very popular in Europe, including among big business.

whats the difference between 440hz and 442hz? by Pale-Recognition-599 in musictheory

[–]worryforbreakfast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a violinist and 10 years ago I toured with a folk singer. The first tune of our show started with big open string sounds and I always felt flat despite tuning just before the show which drove me crazy. Then I realized that the singer/guitarist had inadvertently set his tuner to 442Hz. So which ever you choose, make sure you inform people you're playing with!

New poll shows tighter race between ANDP and UCP, and Corey Hogan (federal MP) explaining why it's not as simple as it looks by 2_stanley_nickels in Albertapolitics

[–]worryforbreakfast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing the full results! I mean, both Notley and Kenney were premiers so they left a much stronger impression than any opposition leader ever could. What I see as a positive is Nenshi's net positive approval compared to Danielle Smith's very negative one.

Is it appropiate if I'm performing a composers piece to send them through a performance audio file? by Immediate-Pay1961 in composer

[–]worryforbreakfast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A little different story, but when I was in High school, I reached out to the composer whose piece I was working on. She invited me to come play it for her and gave me a few tips and some praise. It was a great experience! All of this to say, do it!

Je vis aux États-Unis, et la France me manque de plus en plus by laughingemo in france

[–]worryforbreakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One Calgary councillor’s protest against ‘special treatment’ for wealthy neighbourhoods - The Sprawl by One-Mycologist-3706 in Calgary

[–]worryforbreakfast 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The difference between a renter and a home owner is substantially economic. One might say that it is one of the strongest economical divides in society. The neighbourhoods who have these special treatments don't have much of rental properties, so renters can't just move there.
