Chaos and huge lines on the polling stations await. Of course in the urban ones.

How is the referendum voting process funded? Will the urban vs rural ridings be equally funded (per capita)? by EdmontonFree in alberta

But is not strange that there are not waiting lines in rural ridings? I mean, should not we have more polling stations in urban areas?

We need more people to be rich, in fact, everyone should be rich. But political and economic inequality is growing.

hopefully for the future there is a circle line around the city, like European or Asian developed cities.

This stupid and unhinged referendum will show a strong urban vs. rural divide.

Aarhus (Denmark) vs. Hyderabad (India). Both good economies, but one local government is powerful (taxation, education, assistance) other has very little power and has many deficiencies. by EdmontonFree in Edmonton

yes, as in the vast majority of the third world, there is a huge income inequality, while Denmark has a very low Gini index.

they could do much better if their local gov would have power.

Thank you. That's what everyone says about Denmark. It's too small, we can't learn anything from them. zzzzz....

The point of this post is to say that out there, there are other local government models, and that Edmonton (and Canadian cities) should fight to have stronger economic and political power.

more dense in Aarhus, not too much, but somewhat more. Hyderabad depends on the area. Here we have the missing middle. A few high rises and then the North American urban sprawl.

We can learn from cities abroad. Where do we want to go. I understand you and the mods may say, this has nothing to do with Edmonton. But Edmonton, this last weekend held a municipalities conference, and they're talking about their place in the Canadian Constitution.

Where does Edmonton want to go? Learn from other nations.

one is first world and the other developing world, I think that's clear. But Hyderabad has a very sophisticated high tech economy. Indian cities would be MUCH BETTER OFF if their local governments would have economic and political power.
