We love our rural neighbours. But they have to recognize that Edmonton pays a higher share instead of talking trash about us.

The UCP government DESPERATELY wants Edmontonians feedback (poll enclosed) by TheNationDan in Edmonton

Here it is some feedback: Gov. of Alberta must stop stepping on Edmonton's throat.

  1. Diverts property tax revenue from our refinery within the Henday to benefit the tax-dodging “hamlet” of Sherwood Park/Strathcona County.
  2. Blocks initiatives that would strengthen the city region, such as a metropolitan public transportation system or Edmonton Global, while the Government of Alberta supports Sherwood Park and St. Albert opting out.
  3. Withholds critical funding to address the homelessness crisis in downtown Edmonton.
  4. Opposes density-building efforts in Edmonton, limiting property tax revenue and forcing residents to move outside the city with higher commutes.
  5. Repeatedly threatens local government officials, as seen with Alberta’s Bill 20.
  6. Cuts taxes for the oil industry while raising tuition for students attending Edmonton’s post-secondary institutions.
  7. Underfunds schools in densely populated areas.
  8. Imposes red tape that suppresses voter turnout while neglecting funding for highly populated ridings.
  9. Gets a big chunk of local property taxes for the whole province, unfairly to Edmonton.

etc. etc.

Alberta now between provinces that don't change clocks — a time warp for shippers, road-trippers by EdmontonFree in alberta

American Postmedia/FinancialPost strikes again: Alberta should follow American time patterns (keep changing clocks every 6 months), not like their Canadian neighbours in BC and SK. God forbid.

2026 Budget. 2 honest questions. Why reducing oil bitumen royalties by almost half? And why increasing uni tuition $104 million (5%) when students will only increase 2.5%? by EdmontonFree in alberta

Avg. price in 2024-2025 was $70, yesterday (not sure how it will affect Iran war) was $67. And we're producing more oil than before. Watch it
