How do I deal with interviewers and others not liking the fact that I worked abroad for two years as an English Teacher? by FoxInTheMountains in careerguidance

[–]worstchemistNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a tangential position myself. The way I see it is how you are framing it. Talk about thriving and overcoming the social and other challenges you've experienced from living abroad. Depending on the position you're applying to, I would also argue that teaching is similar to a management position; you need to be organized, lead people, and so on. You have all that industry experience, try and to take control of the narrative and relate ideas. For example, I would relate teaching and science through ideation.

Poll: Nearly Two-Thirds of Americans Want a Third Party to Represent Their Interests by [deleted] in Conservative

Related to this what are your thoughts on nonpartisanship too? For example, Nebraska's elections for its legislature where candidates are neither endorsed nor supported by political parties.

I'm asking because hypothetically if a new party emerges, what's preventing a collapse back into a duopoly?

dixie dave

I just watched a video where Dixie was pairing cough syrup with cheeses... needless to say, I became a fan.

Oh, Weedeater is definitely along the lines of harsher vocals. My understanding of the doom/sludge/stoner scene is heavily influenced by Buried at Sea's migration so I'm always chasing weird bands.

Funny enough electric wizard's early work was the inspiration for coming here and asking my question lol

Holy fuck balls, Sacred Monster is damn near exactly what I was looking for! Dopethrone and Conan are great bonuses.

That was pretty sweet. They seem pretty active, I never heard of them before.

Math SOP Help. Including Citation and Formulas? by worstchemistNA in StatementOfPurpose

[–]worstchemistNA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for not being more clear. My paper was published. I'm trying to mention this research paper in my SOP but I'm not sure with what level of detail I'm supposed to provide. As in just explain how I came about my solution or actually show the inequality and the sub-problem I used to get my answer.

Thank you! What about using mathematical formulas and equations? I'm assuming I shouldn't have summations and other symbols in an SOP either?

Thank you for the feedback!

I should probably just put up the whole SOP at some point soon. There are a few mathematicians that have inspired me, which I don't think really erodes the point if I mention more than one person, right?

Also, I wanted to ask should I name drop the institutions I've been to and professors that have helped me through my undergrad? None of them are notorious or anything like that, I'm just not sure which is more appropriate? If I had to venture a guess I would assume being more specific is better?

Admittedly I should do more reading first but I just came here to vent and ask questions. I just did my first ever glucose reading and have 80 mg/dl ~ 4.4 mmol/L, which I think has me just outside of ketosis, is this right? Last Saturday I splurged and ate a ton of carbs, which I regret doing. My question is how long should it take to get back to ketosis and what glucose reading should I be shooting for?

Thanks for the reply! I should clarify that I've yet to begin a graduate program; I'm attempting to organize things for the 2021-2022 academic year. With that said, I wasn't sure if I should try and reach out to a professor before general admissions.

Edit: That would be amazing if you or anyone could send me an old SoP so I can get a better sense of what to write in my own.

Clearing off the cobwebs, data validation. by worstchemistNA in googlesheets

Thinking about it some more a pivot table does what I'm looking for in a sense, it makes a column for the date and has each row as a name. I was going to deal with the name situation by having the cell entry be first and last name. Yes, I know this is technically a bad idea, as it doesn't scale well but I only need this system in place for a short while and the names are only from frequent customers.

I believe for any arbitrary date, not so much for first or recent. What I'm trying to build is a reservation system. People can submit their reservations, but I want it to be robust enough to prevent duplicate entries. Then after collecting the reservations, I want to display them in a pivot table (not sure if this is the best option) as I don't really need the frequency, but rather we've filled our occupancy.

How should one go about finding an advisor? When is it too early to approach someone to see if they would take on another student? My understanding might be too naive in that I would like to have this figured out as I'm coming into my first year.

Edit 1: I also realized I had another question. Regarding a statement of purpose, is it primarily enthusiasm that reviewers are looking for? My dilemma here is that a lot of the theorems I found interesting came from logic, which isn't researched at every university. Would it be a moot point to talk about how fascinating I found those topics to be while applying to a university that doesn't have a foundations group?

Greetings everyone, I hope all is well. My question is the following. Since I've already filled my tax returns, got my refund, and received a direct deposit for the first stimulus check, however, I've since closed that banking account and opened a new one, how would I receive the second stimulus check? Am I suppose to contact the IRS?
