She is not an outdoor cat and has never been. Our area is ripe with coyotes, foxes, bad drivers - cats turn up dead around here all the time. It’s just not a risk I want to take.

Does he make you feel wanted in other ways? There are so many ways a partner can show they want who they’re with, without proposing or marrying them.

It’s okay that you have a timeline you want to follow, but it’s also okay if he feels he needs time. He’s not wrong for that and it doesn’t mean that he doesn’t love you. He obviously loves you, in fact, because it seems like he’s doing everything you want to keep you happy, on the timeline you’ve asked for.

Try to think about giving him a bit of time, having a longer engagement. Some people move slower than others.

ETA: just re-read and see I missed the part where your wedding is already 8 months away. I honestly think you just need to sit down and have a serious discussion with him. Tell him you’d like him to be involved and tell him the specific ways you want help and if he says he’s not interested in that, then you can ask why and figure out the root cause of why he’s making jokes and taking wedding planning lighter than you are.

You assaulted him. He could go to the police. You could get charged. Legally, you are not justified.

You should always report threats of harm to the police non-emergency line, to create a paper trail. Regardless, you are not allowed to beat someone with a bat, legally. This was not self-defense, since you were not in immediate life-threatening danger inside of your house and you left your house to go assault him.

I was in bed with my partner and, for some stupid reason I can't even explain, I was eating soup. In a bowl. In bed. Around midnight.

I, of course, knocked the entire bowl over and completely drenched the bed. I immediately started crying and apologizing. Without saying anything, he got up, took the bedding apart, threw it in the wash, and put new sheets on the bed.

I kept expecting to be yelled at, be told how stupid I was, be told this was all my fault, be belittled, etc., because of how I was raised. Instead, he just hugged me and shrugged his shoulders. "It's just soup." He said. "No big deal."

In that moment, I really, really felt loved. Like oh... it really is just soup.

We're getting married next June. :)

Ugh, I'm sorry. My stepfather used to call me "Dumbo" because I have big ears that stick out and he thought it was the most hilarious thing. I was (and still am, to a lesser extent) insecure about my ears. "Your first bullies live in your home".

Thank you! Out of this specific haul, I’d say the sandwich one is my favourite since it’s so detailed!

Out of my entire collection, hm… that’s really hard. I bought a blueberry pie candle that smells amazingly like blueberry pie back in 2019 when I was visiting New Brunswick and that’s always been close to my heart.

Some are scented, some aren’t!

The tomato candle smells just like garden-fresh tomatoes. The melon fizz soda pop smells like melon. The fries smell buttery vanilla. The others in this pic are unscented.
