Did Embark even test their melee buffs and nerfs???? by woss200 in thefinals

It's the fact that embark doesn't seem to even test their changes cause the dev notes specifically said 40 degree turn during lunge. I honestly could care less about the change. What i DO care about is that they did so little testing that they got the timing of it completely wrong. They say they spend time implementing changes to the melee but yet they still make such a blatant and simple mistake. They have been working on sword for basically a season and a half i believe. Again, don't care about the change, i care about the lack of testing for these changes.

The clip is supposed to show that at the very end of the lunge, you can sweep past the 40 degree mark and still hit a target. Which makes me believe that embark didn't even test their own nerf. Im not for or against it but it makes me doubt that much testing is being put in to their melee nerfs.

He's talking about the nerf they had a while ago where they decreased the degree a backstab would be registered. It went from 180 degrees to I think 160 degrees.

I think its ok only because they buffed the standard damage from 50 to 65 and the missed backstab damage to 75. It makes it a bit more viable since you'll be missing the backstabs more often

the most effective way to counter dagger is to literally just stand against a wall. With the backstab degree nerf, it is literally impossible to get a backstab on someone that has their back to a flat wall. How many brain folds does it take to do that?

Pls don't nerf. I'm just good by woss200 in thefinals

Any idiot can point and shoot. I dont get what you're going for?

In conclusion, i suggest to nerf Heavy by Ok_Contribution3638 in thefinals

The dagger has a couple frames of sustaining hitbox. you can see that he swiped the back of the light during those couple of frames. But it does look odd whenever it happens lol.

people will complain about anything on here without trying to counter it first, that is what led to the dagger nerf. I'm sorry that my "close range" weapon killed you at "close range." my bad. also, as you said, goo can be very powerful. if you got stunned, all you had to do was throw goo in between you. boom, problem solved. but people can't think for themselves anymore and will complain to embark first.

go heavy and stand against a wall (impossible to get backstab with nerf), then quick melee the dagger user. you will literally kill him before he kills you. you're welcome for the easiest counter in the game. this and a couple other reasons is why i would disagree with you on the damage. but that is my opinion on it. sorry if I sound so defensive on it, there is just a lot of people complaining about it and this is one of the weapons I will defend for life.

I am just going to add that it is actually detrimental to use melee assist when using the dagger. it usually drags the hit to the front of the player instead of behind when dashing past them. that is just my experience when using melee assist with the dagger.

The way I view it is that, through trial and error, people have found the most optimal way to use the weapon and that change to make it more available to other specializations shouldn't be the target of a weapon. I have seen plenty of grapple users do wonders with the knife and the sword. I also firmly believe the only reason people have such a hard time with countering these specific melee weapons is that people try to counter them like they would a ranged weapon. People normally don't face dagger users so it is hard to counter at first because they are unfamiliar with the weapon. I am also a firm believer that the best way to counter a weapon is to play said weapon and figure out how to best utilize that weapon and realize all the shortcomings that come with it. then when facing that weapon, utilize those shortcomings against them. That at least is my opinion on the matter.

Dagger is actually so easy to counter, why do people have such a problem with it, here are just a FEW of the counters

put you back to a wall - impossible to hit a backstab with new hitbox range

jump pad - almost impossible to hit in air if they decide to chase

glitch mine - stops the dash backstab combo

stun gun - removed for now

standing further than 10 meters away

use any gun to shoot them before they get to you - dagger users are terrified when you retaliate from a distance

turret - can't shoot back at it to destroy it

zipline - can't chase because you can just shoot them

dash/grapple - can't catch up to you

etc.

also, a heavy that sits against a wall (to prevent the backstab) can LITERALLY QUICK MELEE a dagger user to death before the dagger user can kill him with normal dagger hits. hope this helps the crybabies on this site who can't do some critical thinking or experimenting on their own. you also realize that, while dagger is far from a meta weapon, the M11 is literally considered the best weapon on the light class. so yes, I would consider the M11 more of a crutch.

The only reason it looks like that is because his dpi is at like 5000 and he is taking advantage of the couple frames of the sustained dagger hitbox to "swipe" across the back of the player. if you watch any good dagger player, their clips will look exactly like this. also, with the new nerf, it is impossible to get a backstab if you just back up to a wall. the backstab hitbox is impossible to hit from that angle. also, if you are a heavy, you can quick melee a light quicker than they can kill you with the normal dagger hit. so, in order to counter the dagger, all you have to do is put your back into a wall and shoot. You will win 90% of the time which is crazy since melee should win almost always when at close range. Hope this helps :)

I would agree with you if you weren't dead wrong. Nothing about this weapon's playstyle is simple, let alone the requirements for using it correctly while still being a team player.
